There are so many things I love about Spring, but cleaning isn’t one of them. I’d rather be hanging out on the patio with friends chowing down on blue cheese buffalo burgers or sipping on raspberry fizz punch, but the reality is that spring is the perfect time to get our house fresh and clean. With these Spring Cleaning Tips and Printable Checklist at least I’ll be ready and my house will be in tip top shape for our weekend BBQ with friends!
My Grandma B. is the queen of clean and she would always come to visit in the spring and help my mom with the spring cleaning. Unfortunately I inherited my mom’s feelings on cleaning (she wasn’t a big fan either) and not my grandma’s, but at least I paid enough attention to know that by taking the time to give your house a deep clean twice a year you’ll have be set up for success year round!
Start by focusing on and tackling the big things, like appliances, furniture and carpeting. Once you’ve tackled these projects you’ll zip through your spring cleaning checklist and be one your way to a super clean house in now time.
Our new house has carpet in living room and I have to admit I’m not really a fan. I miss my hardwood floors in our old house and while putting them in our new house is on the priority list down the road I know that I’m going to be stuck with the carpet for a bit longer. So keeping them clean is a top priority and I’m slightly obsessed with it. Back in December I feel in love with my new BISSELL ProHeat 2X® Premier 47A23 Upright Deep Cleaner, it worked wonders on getting my home ready for holiday entertaining and helped keep my carpets looking brand new.
Fast forward a few months and a winter’s worth of dirt, body oil and grime have seeped into my light colored carpets and somehow my kids have managed to leave their mark.
Tackling the carpets was easy with the new BISSELL Professional Deep Cleaning with Febreze® Formula. You just mix the formula with warm water and with just three simple steps, spray, scrub, suck you’ll have fresh smelling clean carpets in no time. Refresh, revitalize and protect your carpet for a deep clean from the ground up. It was no match for the stains and I can’t believe how wonderful my house smells now too.
I love how the Febreze® Formula not only got my carpets clean but left them smelling fresh and the best part is it has Scotguard will help keep the carpets clean even with three busy kids running around. So, until we work our way down to our project list and replace my not so favorite carpet with hardwood floors at least I can rest assured that they will be fresh and clean!
I still don’t love cleaning, but I’m ecstatic that my carpets are fresh and clean!
Now that your carpets are clean, tackle the rest of your spring cleaning with our free printable checklist.

Hey, Mariah! I’m very glad that I stumbled upon your article! My kids are always making yucky stains on my carpets, so I can definitely relate to you! I’ll look into that product that you’re recommending. If I can’t get the coffee stains out, would you recommend that I hire a carpet cleaning service? Wish me luck—hopefully I’ll be able to do this myself!

Hi, Mariah! It’s so kind of you to share these tips and cleaning ideas with us. Sometimes it’s really hard to find a solution for some spots and how to get rid of them. In my opinion the carpets are the most difficult things at home to maintain. Especially that I have children who are throwing food everywhere around the home. Thank you so much for sharing this cleaning products with us! Best regards

I’ve always thought it was a great idea to have a home carpet cleaner. However, I’ve wondered how well they work compared to having a professional do the job. Also, does the cleaning with a home cleaner seem to last very long?
Mariah says
I have had good luck with our carpet cleaner and the home cleaner recommended for our particular machine. However, I have never had my carpets professionally cleaned so I don’t really have anything to compare it to, but I like that I can quickly clean up any messes or spills my kids make without having to worry about it.

It’s funny you mention your kids’ spills because that’s exactly why I am thinking I need something like this! My daughter just turned one and is a mess making machine!
Mariah says
I wish I could say it gets better as they get older, but my 7 & 8 year old still manage to make plenty of messes. 😉

I can only imagine how much more there is to clean up when there’s two instead of one!
