Summer Tiki Party Ideas
Set the stage for paradise with some festive decorations. Oriental Trading is my one-stop-shop for party decorations, they have everything from giant tiki totem poles to tabletop tiki huts.
I hung colorful tiki flags across the pool to add a bright pop of color. This is a fun way to add some Hawaiian flair to our backyard.
Then I set up a small tiki hut treat station poolside so the kids could help themselves with snacks. I kept things simple and served tiki fruit kabobs, popcorn, pina colada brownie bites, and cupcakes. A large drink pitcher filled with fruit-infused water will keep everyone hydrated on a hot summer day.
Be sure to fill the pool with fun tiki-themed pool floats like a giant pineapple or floating palm tree. These teens spent most of the afternoon lounging and jumping around in these floats, it was definitely money well spent.
Tiki Party Activities
When it comes to parties, no matter the age, I like to have some activities to keep everyone entertained. Bowling always seems to be a hit with kids no matter their age. Decorating the bowling pins to match your party theme is an easy way to turn an ordinary activity into something extraordinary. Be sure to check out this tutorial for the templates and directions to make your own Tiki Totem Pole Bowling activity.
Next, I created a DIY Flip Flop Station where each of the girls could customize their own pair of flip-flops. This activity was a huge hit with these teens. Next, everyone picked out a pair of flip-flops and then embellished them with ribbon, flowers, buttons, or balloons. This was such a fun activity that kept the girls busy and doubled as a cute party favor too!
This party theme was perfect for even the pickiest teens and everyone had fun swimming, playing games, and enjoying tropical-themed treats. Be sure to visit Oriental Trading to see all of the party ideas and products used to create this tropical paradise!
