Now that spring is in full swing it’s time to start sprucing up my outdoor space. I’m dusting off the patio furniture and brightening the space up with a few quick and easy DIY projects, including this colorful herb box garden planter.
We used to have a small garden at our old house and sometimes I really miss it. Unfortunately, right now with our hectic schedules, we don’t have the time to properly maintain and care for a garden. But, I love the idea of growing fresh herbs and think a box garden is a perfect solution. This little herb garden will not only brighten up my patio space, but it will provide fresh herbs to use in the kitchen which I think is a win-win.
I teamed up with DecoArt to show you just how easy it is to transform an ordinary box into a colorful herb garden with DecoArt Americana Decor Outdoor Living paint. The Outdoor Living paint comes in 25 bright colors and 5 metallics. No primer or sealer is needed before painting or to protect the finish afterwards, which makes it ideal for all types of outdoor projects.
Supplies:
- Wooden Box
- Outdoor Living Paint
- Paint Brush
- Washi Tape
- Fresh Herb Plants
- Ceramic Herb Plant Markers
- Clay Pots
I started by painting the wooden box with my favorite Outdoor Living color, Adirondack.
Next, I used Washi Tape to tape off a geometric block design and painted each section coordinating bright colors. I ended up having to do 3 coats of paint on these sections. Once the paint was dry I removed the washi tape.
Meanwhile, I painted the ceramic herb plant markers with the Outdoor Living paint.
I gave my clay pots an aged look by lightly whitewashing them with Outdoor Living Picket Fence paint. I planted my herbs in the pots and added the painted herb plant markers.
This is such a fun little addition to my side table on my porch. I’m excited about freshening up my outdoor space and adding to my already colorful patio decor, like my favorite outdoor bar cart and painted porch sign.
This would also make a fun Mother’s Day gift. Just add a cute printable “Thanks for Helping Me Grow” gift tag and you’ve got a colorful gift mom will love and appreciate.
