My kids have been away this week at grandma and grandpa’s, which means I’ve been able to get lots of projects finished and I’ve even managed to squeeze in some relaxing moments sipping drinks or reading a book in my favorite spot, the porch! I’m a big fan of porch sitting, and whether we are sitting on our front porch or hanging out in the back, it’s a cozy place where all the cares in the world seem to slip away. Since my porch is my happy space I thought it was high time I add a little bit of color and flair to my special space with a DIY Summer Porch Sign.
I am hanging out with my friends over at DecoArt showing you how I made this simple summer porch sign with my favorite DecoArt outdoor paint, so make sure you pop on over there for the full tutorial and list of products used.
Almost four years ago we moved into house, and even then one of my favorite things about the house was the front porch. Our previous home didn’t have a front porch and I always felt like it made it hard to hangout while our kids played outside and even meet neighbors, so when we found a house with a front porch I was giddy! I’ve always loved the idea of having a front porch; it reminds me of simpler times where neighbors visited with each other, communities came together and life moved at a slightly slower pace. And I absolutely love having a space that instantly greets people when they arrive, it’s our home’s welcome center. A few years ago I shared my fabulous front porch makeover and now I’m excited to be working on updating my backyard porch and this DIY summer porch sign is a great start!
I hung my new porch sign up with a few of my other favorite signs, prepared a simple porch picnic, poured a glass of wine and kicked back to relax and enjoy summer living on my porch…because life is definitely better on the porch!
