Blank Canvas

Today we had a SUPER fun playdate with our favorite Cobbs boys.  It has been over 100 degrees for the past several weeks and anything outside is unbearable, unless it involves water.  We thought we would try something new and take a break from the pool (which might I add is not relaxing at ALL when you have 6 toddlers to keep track of) so we had a paint party. I hung up an old white sheet in the backyard for our blank canvas.  I filled up spray bottles with tempera paint and added water to … [Read more...]

Road Trip Activities

We are about to embark on a 21 hour road trip to visit family in Utah. I am very excited about spending time with family, hanging out on the farm, camping in the mountains and cooler weather...I am not excited about being in the car for 21 hours with my beautiful (sometimes whiny) kids. I have been a little stressed about this trip and have tried to come up with some fun things for them to do along the way. In the process I decided to make them some new Road Trip Activities to play with. First … [Read more...]

Colorful Starfish

Today we tried a craft, but it didn't really go as planned. Aubrey brought home this colorful starfish from summer camp and I thought this would be perfect for Parker & Piper. How much simpler can you get...a starfish pattern, fruit loops and some glue! Two cute kids and your ready.Put glue on starfish pattern and adhere fruit loops. They loved putting the glue on, but they had no interest in actually leaving the fruit loops on. Every time they would put one on and I would turn to help the other … [Read more...]

Shark Puppets

I had so much fun yesterday doing a craft with my little ones that we did another "Ocean" craft today. I saw this idea in a book my mom gave me (she used to use this for ideas when we were kids!) and thought it would be easy and fun for P&P.I took letter size envelopes and sealed them. I then trimmed off 1/2 inch from one side and cut the other into a triangle to create the mouth. Save the triangle to use as the fin. It will look like this.I glued on the eye and gave them glitter paint pens … [Read more...]

Rainbow Fish

Bugs, Bugs and More Bugs

Today was a perfect day for a themed Muffin Tin and craft. We had to stay home this morning and wait for the TV guy to come by and fix our TV, and you know how that goes they give you a 4 hour window so you get stuck at home waiting and 7 hours later they finally show up!Anyway...I decided to do a simple craft this morning that didn't require any planning or mess. So I used an idea from an old book and we made Buggy Goggles. You need an egg carton, pipe cleaners, and stuff to decorate them. We … [Read more...]

Marshmallow Easter Egg

Today we made some an easy, educational and yummy craft for Easter. I saw this idea at No Time For Flashcards and knew this would be a big hit with all 3 kiddos. We used this craft as an opportunity to practice counting, sorting and patterns. Little Miss A. had to count to 5, 10, 15 and 20 before she could eat some of the white marshmallows we used to make the outline of the egg. With glue I drew patterns inside the egg and she then had to sort her favorite colors on the straight lines and then … [Read more...]

Celebrating Dr. Seuss

Today is Dr. Seuss's Birthday and we couldn't resist celebrating the amazing author and stories that have inspired reading in children for decades. My sister teaches kindergarten and had reminded me that this event was coming up, but I honestly let it slip my mind until this morning when a friend dropped off her son so she could go to the school to participate in the activities with her kindergartner. So I had to work with what we had on hand...here is our version of green eggs and ham that we had … [Read more...]
