This rainbow-colored Halloween Carnival Party proves that color and spooky can be done together to create lots of SPOOKtacular fun!
Come one, come all the Carnival is in town, and we can’t wait to scare up some fun! This year I teamed up with Oriental Trading to create a colorful RainBOO Halloween Carnival Party right in my own backyard.
I’m a huge fan of Halloween and especially love hosting parties this time of year. From mysterious Murder Mystery Dinner Parties to a playful Monster Mash this is such a fun time of year to entertain friends. After our crazy year last year, I knew I wanted to create a Halloween party that sparked joy and lots of laughter rather than screams and scares.
A few years ago I created a CarnEVIL Trunk or Treat and the carnival theme was such a hit I knew we needed to recreate it. So, this year I decided to go all out with this colorful kid-friendly Halloween Carnival full of activities, games, and candy galore.
Backyard Halloween Carnival Ideas
You don’t need a big top to host an epic backyard Halloween Carnival. With games, decorations, and fun carnival fare from Oriental Trading and these fun tips your RainBOO carnival is guaranteed to be a hit!
DIY Carnival Booth
I created a DIY Carnival booth to serve as the backdrop for our carnival games and it was such a fun and inexpensive way to add a big wow factor to our backyard carnival.
I used this tutorial to build the tents out of PVC pipe and plastic tablecloths from Oriental Trading. I loved how easy it was to set up and take down and it really helped create a fun space for guests to play games and win prizes.
Halloween Carnival Games
Carnival games are essential to the fun in this Halloween celebration. Oriental Trading has a huge variety of Carnival Games to ensure your party is a success. Guests were encouraged to play games like the Halloween Prize Wheel, and Halloween Skee Ball to earn tickets, which they could then use to collect prizes.
Some of our favorite Halloween games include Mummy Bowling and Monster Toss so I made sure to incorporate those into our carnival games.
In addition to the games, we also had activities like Jack-O’-Lantern potato sack races, face painting, and a colorful photo booth.
Rainbow Halloween Decorations
I can’t think of a better way to spread some joy than with rainbows, so we integrated lots of colorful decorations, like this DIY Rainbow Ghost Halloween Garland. The key to a SPOOKtacular RainBOO celebration is to incorporate the perfect blend of color and Halloween decor.
I used the Spider Web Plastic Tablecloth from Oriental Trading to cover the tables and the backdrop for our photo booth. It added the perfect amount of Halloween whimsy without being overly spooky or scary.
I also added a slew of rainbow-colored pumpkins to create an eye-catching centerpiece along with the table where kids could enjoy their favorite carnival fare. I also incorporated lots of rainbow-colored decorations from everything to the paper plates and balloons, which instantly made the party feel vibrant and fun.
Creepy Halloween Carnival Food
In addition to carnival classics like cotton candy and popcorn, it’s also lots of fun to incorporate some creepy Halloween carnival food.
Load your dessert table with some frightful treats like poison apples, mummy dogs, and some over-the-top Monster Freak Shakes!
Everyone is a winner at this RainBOO Halloween Carnival party! So this Halloween, forget the creepy goblins and scary black cats and let the kids have a fabBOOlous time at this kid-friendly Halloween Carnival!
