Make a Guest List
The first step to a successful murder mystery party is to create a guest list. Your guest will need to be “on stage” and part of this interactive dinner. Being comfortable with one another will help the group feel relaxed enough to play a part and get into their roles.
Select a Party Kit
Once you know who is going to receive an invitation it’s time to choose a theme and select a party kit. You can purchase a variety of murder mystery kits that include a story about a murder, character assignments, background information and clues. Choose from instant downloads of the game or boxed sets that are ready to go for your party.
Assign Character Roles
Once you have your guest list and you’ve decided on the murder mystery party kit, it’s time to assign character roles and get your guest involved. As the host you will assign character roles to your guest prior to the party. Send out invitations and notify your guests of the theme of the party, along with their character information and costume suggestions.

This Halloween setup looks AMAZING! Two years ago we threw a Murder Mystery party that was a lot of fun! I must say, we definitely didn’t have nearly as cool of decorations as your pics so this time I’ll have to take some pointers from this post!! We did play a relay race rolling pumpkins around in the backyard that was pretty hilarious though!
