Looking for fun 40th birthday party ideas? Host a Beer Tasting Birthday Party for a unique and memorable celebration worth toasting. From personalized tasting boards to themed decorations made with Cricut this little get-together is certain to get lots of cheers, and “ALE” yeahs!
When my husband turned 40 we had a Bourbon Tasting party and it was one of the most fun events we’ve ever hosted. So when a friend of ours asked me to help her plan a Beer Tasting Party for her husband’s 40th birthday I couldn’t wait to jump in and start planning!
I wanted to make sure every little detail was perfect so I used my Cricut Maker to create custom decals, labels, and decorations for the party. I’ll show you how to make 5 simple projects with your Cricut machine that will help make your party extraordinary.
FREE Cricut Beer Tasting SVG
One of my favorite ways to make a party feel extra special is by using my Cricut machine and Cricut supplies to personalize everything from decorations to party favors.
I purchased a punch of plain, inexpensive supplies and gave them a glammed-up makeover using Cricut vinyl. I created 5 different Beer Tasting SVG files in Cricut Design Space to help you recreate your own beer tasting party.
Beer Tasting Board and Tasting Cups
A key element to a successful beer tasting party is to have individual tasting boards and cups for each guest. I found inexpensive boards and cut out 2″ circles with numbers to help each guest keep track of each drink.
I added gold vinyl decals to each of the tasting cups. Not only do these make ordinary cups feel more festive, but it also gives each guest an idea of what type of beer they are tasting. Each decal represents a different type of beer like wheat, ale, or IPA.
Beer Tasting Labels
We decided to do a Blind Taste so each of the beers we were sampling was placed into a sack. In order to keep everything straight, I created Beer Tasting Labels using Cricut Cardstock, the Cricut Pen, and gold vinyl.
Cheers & Beers DIY Coasters
DIY coasters are a fun addition to this party, plus they make create party favors too. I used Chipboard and vinyl to create these personalized coasters that resemble a beer bottle cap. You could also create Infusible Ink Coasters for more permanent coasters.
How to Host A Beer Tasting Party
Now that you have personalized all of the party details all that is left is to host an epic beer tasting party. There are lots of ways to make sure your event is a success, here is what we found worked best and allowed everyone to relax and have fun!
Do a Blind Taste
Keep things interesting and create a blind taste experience for your guests. Place each beer in a bag to conceal it, and then add one of the numbered beer tasting labels.
I also added the custom number labels in the glass circle spaces on each of the beer trays. This meant I could pour the beer taster and everyone remembered the number they were tasting.
Rate, Rank, Reveal
Provide each guest with a rating card so they can rate the beers for appearance, aroma, flavor, and finish. This is a great way for everyone to remember their favorites and discover new varieties to purchase in the future.
After each beer has been tasted and noted, reveal the beer labels so your guests can fill in the beer name, brewery, and style in their notes.
At the end of the night tally up everyone’s cards to reveal which beer was the crowd favorite and wins the “Best Beer” award for the night.
Serve Small Bites
Be sure to provide snacks that pair well with each beer. It can be as snack containers filled with pub favorites like pretzels, peanuts, and popcorn. If you are looking for something more filling you can never go wrong with a charcuterie board.
No one likes drinking on an empty stomach. Once you have your beer list ask one of our experts to recommend some good snacks that you can pair with each beer. It can be as simple as a cheese tray or as intense as a full meal. Bonus points for providing a simple cracker that can double as a palate cleanser.
This party is sure to brew up a good time! To get everyone into the spirit of the beer tasting encourage everyone to bring along a six-pack of their favorite beer. When the party is over split out the beers so that everyone takes home 6 new beers to taste at home.
Hosting your own at-home beer tasting means you can create a truly unique experience. With the help of Cricut, this is definitely a libation celebration to remember!
Such fun for the guys! Where did you find the beer tasting trays?!?
I found the beer tasting trays at Target, they were in the Dollar Spot and on clearance at the beginning of November.
