Magnetic Photo Frame

I first saw this idea last year while visiting my family in Utah and I immediately loved it. It has taken me a while to get around to making some, but once I did it was super easy & the results were fantastic! This was a Christmas gift for our parents.I cut the board to 12x24 and used the router to spiffy up the edges. I cut three 6x6 squares from a large piece of sheet metal (ok, my hubby did it because I wasn't strong enough!) Then I cut out the saying "Count Your Blessings" on the Cricut in … [Read more...]

Christmas Traditions

One of my favorite things about being a parent is having the opportunity to create memories & traditions with our kids. As a child one of my favorite Christmas traditions was building gingerbread houses. My parents love this time of year & there are so many special memories to choose from, but I always loved the gingerbread creations my family would create. Now these weren't just any old houses, they were elaborate works of art (I wish I had a picture to show you). Sometimes there would be … [Read more...]

The Beach & A Kiss

Actually, Beach Ornaments & a Kissing Ball! My sisters wedding is only 1 week away & we have been busy finalizing the last details. Fortunately, there haven't been too many to take care of since they will be getting married on a cruise (and they do most of the planning) but we have been busy nonetheless.Today we worked on the Kissing Ball for little Miss A. to carry down the aisle. The cruise won't allow you to bring on fresh flowers and the prices were astronomical so we opted not to order … [Read more...]

Pumpkin Patch

It is amazing what you can do with a scrap of 2x4 wood! My hubby has been doing a small garage update and had some left over 2x4's, so I thought to myself "what can I do with those?"You saw my post yesterday on the Halloween Blocks and I mentioned they were leftovers from another "pumpkin" project. My mom picked up some adorable pumpkins made from a fence post last year at a craft show(sorry I don't have a pic) and I wanted a set for myself. Since hubby isn't tearing down the fence, well at … [Read more...]

Halloween Blocks

I simply adore Halloween, it is one of my favorite times of the year. My mom always decked the house in spooky Halloween decor and threw great parties for our friends. Now that I am a mom I find myself doing the exact same thing.I made these simple Halloween Blocks after completing another "pumpkin" project. I had some leftover wood and decided to put it to good use. You can see these blocks ALL over blogland, but I was inspired by the ones seen at Imperfectly Beautiful.I didn't take before … [Read more...]

Art on Display

We love to do craft and art projects around here. The problem is they pile up quickly, or end up being trashed or stashed in a closet so they don't clutter up the house, (ie,the refrigerator) I HATE clutter and wanted a cute way to display the kids art and showcase the fun things we make.So I created a simple and easy "Art Gallery" for Aubrey to showcase her latest work. She loves to show people what she did and we can easily rotate things out to make room for new "masterpieces."Here are the … [Read more...]

Decorative Tray

Anyone who knows me knows that I hate clutter and can't stand for things to not be in their proper home! I am notorious for throwing things away because they were in a spot they didn't belong. This pet peeve of mine has become increasingly difficult to manage since the kids came along and our lives have gotten a little more hectic. I recently noticed our bathroom counter had become a catch all, so I set out to change that.Yuck, just look at that basket of hodge podge stuff!I stumbled upon this … [Read more...]

If you answered yes, then this post is for you! This What's Hot Wednesday post features a fabulous idea I got from Shannon at Eightcrazy. I have also seen this idea all over blogland, but this is where I first saw the idea to create custom art for my walls. My dining room had one lone picture that was too small for the wall and for almost a year now I have been searching for something to … [Read more...]

What’s Hot Wednesday – Crafter’s Corner

On our recent trip to Utah (I know I still need to post those vacation pics) I learned about this amazing little store Crafters Corner. My aunts had a wedding shower for my sister and she got this super cute recipe holderI fell in LOVE and needed one for myself so we planned a little excursion to their store, which was a little out of the way but oh so important. We walked inside and I had to control my urge to snatch up everything in site. Such cute stuff! They specialize in metal & wood … [Read more...]

It’s a Party!

Sarah @ Thrifty Decor Chick is hosting a Goodwill Party, so much fun. I just had to participate. I have been haunting Goodwill stores and garage sales lately to make my beloved "Dress Up" suitcases, which I also talked about here. While these aren't necessarily "decor" for your home they make a lovely addition to any little girls playroom or room.I don't have a before picture, but just imagine an old fashioned, hard plastic suitcase that your Grandma used to travel with. Just like this...A … [Read more...]
