Throughout the holiday season, our homes are filled with friends, family and lots of delicious food. This holiday season, host a stress-free Poinsettias & Plaid Holiday Brunch to kick off the festivities.
During the busy holiday season, there are lots of parties to attend, brunch can be easier on both the guest and the host. It’s actually one of my favorite parties we throw all year and today I’ve teamed up with Calloway’s Nursery to show you how to host your own festive Poinsettias & Plaid Holiday Brunch.
Invite friends over for a simple, yet festive, brunch and treat them to delicious food, a DIY mimosa bar, and gifts before they head out to tackle their Christmas shopping lists.
No other bloom says ‘Christmas’ like the dazzling colors of poinsettias! The bright leaves capture the joyous sentiments of the holidays and paired with bold plaid patterns it’s the quintessential decor for a holiday party.
Calloway’s carries a huge selection of Poinsettias, fresh wreaths, and garland for all of your holiday decorating needs. Picked from premium growers to ensure that you receive the best of the best, you can easily add that extra ‘wow!’ to your Christmas décor with the velvety brilliance of poinsettias.
I used a fresh cedar garland as a table runner and created a simple centerpiece with a few poinsettias. I placed them in metal containers and created height with rustic wood slices.
Each place setting featured a red plaid napkin, a gingerbread cookie, a jar of homemade jam and fresh greens.
The key to this celebration is that it’s stress-free and low key, you want your guest to feel energized and refreshed before they head out to do their Christmas shopping. To achieve that I dressed up store-bought pastries and desserts. I filled the table with these scrumptious treats so everyone could sit and enjoy chatting together.
I placed mugs at each place setting that guest could fill with hot cocoa, tea or coffee. I found the cutest snowflake marshmallows and peppermint spoons which made the hot cocoa feel extra special!
A DIY mimosa bar was set-up on a bar cart in the kitchen where guest could create their own holiday mimosa. I hung one of the spectacular fresh wreaths from Calloway’s to provide a festive, and delicious smelling, backdrop. I also picked up a few of the rosemary Christmas tree topiaries and added more poinsettias to make it feel extra cheerful.
I love sending my guest home with a little party favor to remember our time together. I hope that my friends have a holiday jam-packed with fun, so it was only natural that they went home with a jar of homemade jam and their own mini poinsettia plant.
For me entertaining, no matter the time of year is all about connecting with the people I love. But, during the holidays I find it especially important to slow down and focus not on the presents but being present! Calloway’s Nursery made it easy to add a festive touch to my brunch holiday party and home for the holidays!
