Hi I am going to make these for my granddaughter sweet 16. The kids will love them but what is best way to serve them with them standing up?
Lynn says
hey came up with a great idea! I am going to take 2 heavy small and med size boxes, spray paint them then stack them. With a drill my husband is going to cut cone shaped circles and put finished cones in them. Boxes will then resemble a cake painted to match decorations with some spray glitter over paint.

These look delicious! I’m thinking of making them for my daughter to bring to school to celebrate her birthday! Any idea how the bowls/cones would hold up for 4 hours of the fruit sitting in it before getting soggy?
Mariah says
I would recommend cutting the fruit the night before and putting it in a separate bowl in the fridge, where some of the natural juices will release. Then you can strain the fruit and place them in the cones, and they should hold up with the fruit. Naturally, there will still be some juices released from the fruit (especially from fruit like strawberries) but the cones shouldn’t get soggy.

Very creative.
I am thinking about using your idea of the waffle bowls for serving at a rehearsal dinner; does the juice from the fruit cause the waffle to become soggy and fall apart?
Thanks
Mariah says
Hi! We used slotted spoons to drain most of the juice before putting them in the bowls. I wouldn’t recommend putting them in there until you are fairly close to being ready to serve them (about an hour prior)
