When you can’t be with your friends for Cinco de Mayo what do you do? Bring the party to them with this quick and easy Fiesta in a Box gift idea!
I’m a sucker for a good Fiesta themed celebration. In fact, over the year’s I’ve hosted dozens of Fiestas including a colorful fiesta pool party, a Chicks and Churro’s Girls Night, and a Friendsgiving Fiesta.
One of the reasons I love hosting fiesta themed parties is because of all of the bright colors and fun accessories. You just can’t help but have a good time at a colorful Cinco de Mayo fiesta. However, because of social distancing, we aren’t able to get together with our friends to celebrate like we normally would.
So instead, I decided to bring the party to our friends with a Fiesta in a Box and a virtual Cinco de Mayo party! Whether you are social distancing due to COVID-19 or you simply live far away from friends and family this gift idea is quick and easy to create for any occasion that calls for a Fiesta.
How to Host a Virtual Fiesta
2020 has given us lots of challenges so far, but it’s also shown us that celebrations can still happen, even from a distance. Due to the social distancing requirements, we aren’t able to host our annual Cinco de Mayo party and hang out with our friends. But, I didn’t want the opportunity to pass to shake our maracas and toast to friendships, tacos, and tequila so this year I am hosting a virtual Fiesta.
Because we could all use a good laugh and everybody loves a good pun, I created a witty little Fiesta poem that tells our friends how much we miss them.
Next, I planned a ZOOM call for everyone to join on the designated day and time for our Fiesta. You can add the details to join by emailing everyone or writing them at the bottom of the Fiesta printable. One of the great things about this technology is it allows everyone to “get-together” and see each other even when it’s not possible to be in the same room.
Finally, I created a Fiesta in a Box full of everything our friends will need for our virtual celebration and delivered them prior to the event.
On the day of your virtual Fiesta be sure to send a reminder to everyone. Don’t forget to grab your sombrero, mix up a drink, and turn up the tunes so it feels like a Fiesta.
How to Make a Fiesta in a Box
To create a Fiesta in a Box all you need are a few supplies and a few Fiesta themed goodies. Oriental Trading is the perfect one-stop-shop for all your Fiesta needs, and it’s especially a great resource if you are creating multiple Fiesta in a Box gift sets for friends.
You want to make sure you include everything your friends will need to create their own colorful fiesta at home. Be sure to include some simple party decorations like paper picadillo flags or a taco banner.
Add items that will help them dress the part and get into the mood for a fiesta. Mini sombreros, maracas, fiesta tattoos, or silly mustaches are all fun ways to get everyone ready for the party.
Make sure you include some fun. Add a mini pinata filled with candy and colorful confetti eggs so everyone can join in the fun.
Every fiesta needs good food and a signature drink. While you can’t send a box full of tacos you can include a taco seasoning kit, a jar of salsa or queso, or a gift card to your favorite Mexican restaurant. Toast to friendships and making memories with mini bottles of tequila.
Put everything inside a box and add the free printable Fiesta in a Box sign to brighten things up. Deliver or mail your colorful fiesta to the friends you can’t be with and get ready for the ultimate Taco Tuesday celebration.
I can’t wait until we can get together again in person for backyard BBQs, birthday parties, and colorful Fiestas. But, until then I’m keeping the celebrations alive by creating a quick, easy and fun Fiesta in a Box to bring everyone together.
