Here at our house Fall doesn’t just mean cooler weather and shorter days. Around here fall means football, tailgates, and traditions. Whether you are headed to the game to tailgate or watching it at home on TV, these Loaded BBQ Chicken Skillet Fries are a crowd-pleasing touchdown when it comes to game day snacks!
When my family moved to Texas years ago it wasn’t long before I learned that football isn’t just a game here, it’s a way of life. It brings communities together on Friday nights, college rivalries and traditions run deep, and above all else, it’s an excuse to get together regularly with good food and friends to celebrate our shared passion and love of the game. I’ve always loved entertaining, but there is something so special about hosting a game day watch party or tailgate where everyone is united and cheering for the same team, win or lose.
When it comes to game day parties and serving a crowd nothing beats a warm pile of nachos, but why serve ordinary nachos when you can score a touchdown with a twist on this game day classic. If you are looking to elevate your game day menu this fall these Loaded BBQ Chicken Skillet Fries are guaranteed to do the trick!
Crispy waffle fries topped with slow cooker chicken smothered in the new Pioneer Woman Frontier BBQ Sauce and loaded with cheese and toppings make the perfect hearty game-day snack.
The Pioneer Woman BBQ Sauces are inspired by the Pioneer Woman’s family recipes, and if anyone knows how to feed a hungry crowd it would definitely be her. You can find the BBQ sauces in three different flavors, Pioneer Woman Frontier BBQ Sauce, Pioneer Woman Peach Whiskey BBQ Sauce and Pioneer Woman Apple Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce.
I picked up the Pioneer Woman Frontier BBQ Sauce for my loaded BBQ chicken fries from where else, but Texan’s favorite grocery store, H-E-B. You can find these homestyle BBQ sauces from The Pioneer Woman in the BBQ aisle at H-E-B. If you are planning a tailgate party or just watching the game from home, H-E-B is a one-stop-shop for all your game day shopping needs.
The Frontier BBQ sauce has a smoky-sweet flavor with mild spices and pairs great with chicken, burgers and grilled veggies. I used it to make the BBQ Chicken for the loaded fries, this chicken recipe is so easy and versatile, you can make a big batch of this BBQ chicken to use all week long in other recipes like BBQ chicken sliders, BBQ Chicken bowls, and salads.
Once you have the shredded BBQ chicken ready it’s time to start building the ultimate Loaded BBQ Chicken Skillet Fries. Place the waffle fries on a baking sheet and put in the oven for 20 minutes (or as instructed on the package), be sure to flip them halfway through for crispy fries.
Once the fries are finished transfer them to a cast-iron skillet. Top the fries with the BBQ chicken and cheese. Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly.
Now that the cheese is melted remove the skillet from the oven and add the rest of the toppings. Serve immediately and watch as these loaded fries disappear in a flash!
