Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, hearts are all a flutter and love is in the air! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner I thought it would be fun to create a whimsical Love is in the Air Valentine’s Day Party for my kids and their friends.
The idea for this party came to me after I made these adorable Hot Air Balloon Valentine’s Day Boxes. I loved how cute that craft turned out, I thought it would make a darling party for my kids and their friends too.
When it comes to clothing I never wear red and pink, but I absolutely adore this color combination for parties. These traditional Valentine’s Day colors go so perfectly together and I can’t help but feel happy when I see them together. Just like most of my parties, this sweet set-up was easy to create. I used store bought items, party supplies I already had, and my Cricut to make it extraordinary.
I believe that the magic is in the details. That is what sets an ordinary party apart from an extraordinary one. The little details, like the love themed straw flags, heart cupcake toppers and white cloud with the vinyl saying “Love is in the Air”, all help make this party extra special.
I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on this party so I tried to use up items I already had. The only money I spent was on food, which cost me around $25 dollars. Because I was trying to use up stuff I already had I needed a way to make it stand out. There is where my favorite craft tool comes in. I love using my Cricut to help me personalize everything from party decor to home decor. I often get asked if owning a Cricut is really worth it, and hear people say “Will I really use it that much?” The answer is YES! There are so many ways you can use this machine and you don’t have to be a creative whiz either.
For this party, I simply logged into Cricut Design space and searched for hot air balloons and Valentine’s Day projects. I cut them out using pink and red scrapbook paper that I had in my stash. I love that with Cricut Access I have 1,000s of projects at my fingertips and there are over 50,000 images in the Cricut library to choose from to customize projects.
I used a foam board to cut out a large white cloud. Then I added the “Love is in the Air” vinyl saying to it. I then layered it over cloud patterned bulletin paper from Oriental Trading and a pink tassel garland to create a focal point and backdrop for our sweets table.
The sweet treats for this party were all simple and store bought. But, I made them extra special using the heart flags, ribbon and felt hearts. also made a few DIY hot air balloon treat cups and filled them with popcorn and heart shaped marshmallows. These are super easy to make and the kids thought they were so much fun.
Make Valentine’s Day extra special this year with this Love is in the Air Valentine’s Day Party. Whether you are planning a small play date with friends or planning the class party at your kids school, we think you will find lots of inspiration and ideas in this party to help you celebrate Valentine’s Day!
