Yearning for a simpler, relaxed Christmas celebration? Then come “Gnome for the Holidays” with its cozy woodland decor.
Bring The Family Home
There’s nothing more magical than gathering the whole family home for Christmas. To celebrate that notion, I thought it would be fun to create a “Gnome for the Holidays” tree with festive decorations I found at Oriental Trading.
Into the Woods
I started with a rustic 7-foot natural alpine tree because the exposed trunk makes it seem like the tree is still standing in the forest. Adorable gnomes in a variety of styles peek from the branches amidst other natural and rustic elements. Red and white mushrooms add additional pop of color.
And, the bold black and white buffalo check garland ties the elements together and makes a dramatic statement. I chose a wooden bead garland and small twig wreaths to augment the outdoor vibe.
The Finishing Touches
Although it was cute at that point, I thought the tree needed some additional decorations to tie everything together. I added black chalkboard tags, red roses ,and a few plaid mini stockings to complete the look.
Less is More
For the mantel, I used a framed piece of the Buffalo check. It’s a perfect way to ground the remaining mantel decorations and doesn’t distract from the individual pieces. Remember that sometimes less is more. Traditional pine boughs and pine cones form a base layer where I added in more mushrooms and roses to frame the theme plaque. I created the “There’s no Place Like Home for the Holidays” sign by cutting out vinyl on my Cricut and adhering it to a white canvas.
Gnome Guardians
Mr. and Mrs. Gnome guard the bright red stockings and the fireplace. From their place of honor, I’m sure the pair are going to enjoy the “Gnome for the Holidays” woodland scene as your family gathers for a memory-filled Christmas of simple pleasure.
