The other day I shared a colorful Back to School Notebook Paper Canvas Tote Bag I created for teacher gifts for my kids new teachers. While I’m still not ready to think about heading back to school, I was inspired to create another super easy teacher gift that is the perfect compliment to the canvas tote bags, a DIY Painted Notebook Paper Pencil Pouch.
These super cute and simple notebook paper pencil pouches could be filled with teacher supplies and given as a teacher gift or you could make and personalize them for your kids to keep all of their school supplies organized. Either way, I think these little bags are so fun for the start of a new school year.
You can complete this craft in less than 30 minutes, and I bet you could even make a few of them in that amount of time! And the best part is this craft cost me less than $5 to make!
Supplies You Will Need:
- White Canvas Bag (I found mine at Michael’s)
- DecoArt Stylin Fabric Paint
- Red, Aqua or Blue
- Cricut Red Iron On Vinyl
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut EasyPress or Iron
- Paint Brush
- Ruler
- Pencil
Start by ironing your canvas bag so that it is nice and flat. Next, place the ruler on the canvas bag and use the pencil to draw evenly spaced lines horizontally across the front of the bag.
Take a thin paint brush and use it to paint the blue lines on the canvas bag. I ended up using the aqua paint because it’s what I already had left over from my DIY Citrus Painted Canvas Shoes, but you could use the blue or even a mixture of both colors so that it looks like lined notebook paper.
Next, draw a vertical line on the left side of the canvas bag. Use the red paint and carefully paint the red line on your bag. The great part about the Stylin Fabric paint is the fact that it dries quickly so you don’t have to worry about the paint bleeding together.
Set the canvas bag aside and open up Cricut Design space to personalize the bag. I used a font called Cursive 101 to cut out our teacher’s name in red iron on vinyl. I used my Cricut EasyPress to iron on the name to the painted notebook paper lines.
That’s all there is to it, see easy peasy! I filled the notebook paper painted canvas bag with teacher supplies like pens, pencils, notepads and I even threw in a gift card to their favorite restaurant. This is such a fun and easy back to school teacher gift and it pairs perfectly with the custom made notebook paper canvas tote bags.
While I’m not quite ready to see summer end I am looking forward to an exciting new school year with my kids. I know that it’s going to be an awesome year and I hope that these little gifts will help our teachers know how much we appreciate everything they do!
