Our summer is winding down and before you know the kids will be back in school. We spent the day shopping for school supplies and new outfits for the first day of school. But, before we dive back into school routines and busy schedule we are celebrating with one last big hurrah, a Back to School Picnic Party!
I’ve teamed up with Cricut to show you how we are celebrating the start of a new school year with this fun and simple back to school picnic party. Whether you plan to host a neighborhood party with friends, or a simple family celebration this back to school party is such a fun and easy way to get the kids excited about the start of a new school year.
I used my Cricut Maker to create a few simple decorations and party favors for our picnic themed party. I love entertaining, big or small, and I especially love being able to create and personalize my party decor. I’ve been using my Cricut for over 10 years to add custom details to party decor and favors, and if I’ve learned anything over the past few years it’s that simplicity is key!
My kids truly love these little celebrations and it’s become a tradition to host a back to school party each year. But, they don’t need over the top styled dessert tables or extravagant party favors. They get excited about the simple things, like having their friends over, personalized place settings, treats and party favors and games. Which is exactly why this low key back to school picnic party is the perfect family-friendly celebration.
I used the Cricut Maker to cut fabric and make a picnic style pennant banner. Then I used the Cricut EasyPress to iron on a few ants to the fabric banner. I layered the banner over gingham paper fans for a simple and easy backdrop.
Next, I used the Maker to cut out a bunch of ants in vinyl. I cut a few larger ones to add to the bottom of my picnic basket, this is such a fun and easy way to personalize something you already own.
I made a bunch of smaller ants to place on the table cloth, napkins, individual berry baskets and treat bags. Again, this is such an easy way to personalize inexpensive party supplies.
I used composition notebooks as placemats and put the cute ant napkins and custom little berry baskets filled with goodies on the table. After the kids picked out their sandwiches from the picnic basket we sat down at the table to enjoy lunch and play a round of Back to School Bingo.
Another great way to personalize your party is by creating custom favor bags with iron-on vinyl. We are “Ant”-ticipating an Excell-“ANT” year, and I can’t wait to see my kids flourish this year in school. These cute little favor bags are the perfect way to say good-bye to summer and celebrate the start of a new school year. Make sure you check out the tutorial for these cute Back to School Picnic Party Favor Bags.
Our back to school parties are one of our favorite traditions and this year’s Back to School Picnic party was a fun way to say goodbye to summer and hello to a new school year! Do you have any back to school traditions?
