Yesterday I went to Target to pick up a few things and like I always do I strolled past the Dollar Spot section. At first, when I spotted all of the back to school stuff I groaned. I mean, we still have a month of summer left and I’m not ready to think about school supplies, routines or packing lunches…but then I spotted the cutest notebook paper canvas tote and colorful teacher supplies, and I couldn’t help myself! Which is why I’m interrupting summer to share this colorful Back to School Notebook Paper Canvas Tote Bag made with iron-on vinyl.
Before I knew it I had a cart full of school supplies that I knew would make cute and practical teacher gifts. As soon as I got home I already had a few ideas and set to work creating this colorful A is for AMAZING Tote Bag.
I was inspired by the cute A is for AMAZING gift tag that I found at the Target Dollar Spot. I liked this colorful tag and thought it would be even cuter, and a whole lot more practical, on the notebook paper canvas tote bag, which I also picked up at the Dollar Spot. I used my Cricut and colorful iron on vinyl to replicate the tag and make a tote bag that we can fill with school supplies and snacks for our new teacher.
These tote bags are so cute because you could add just about anything to them. Wouldn’t these be cute with the teachers name on them? These are so easy to make too, here is what you’ll need to make your own custom Back to School Notebook Paper Canvas Tote Bag.
Supplies:
- Cricut Maker
- Cricut EasyPress
- EasyPress Mat
- Cricut Tools Weeder
- A is for AMAZING SVG
- Notebook Paper Canvas Tote Bag
- Colorful Iron On Vinyl
- Pink, purple, yellow, green, aqua, red, blue and black
Start by opening up Cricut Design Space and the A is for AMAZING design file. If you want to recreate the project just like I have you simply need to click on “Make It”. If you want to make changes to colors, size, ect. click on “Customize”
Cut all of the letters out on Iron on, don’t forget to mirror your images before you start to cut. Once you have all of the letters cut, use your weeding tool to weed the letters. Trim around the letters as close as possible, this will help you lay everything out in the next step.
One of the great parts about the notebook paper canvas tote is it helps you get everything lined up and straight. Use a ruler to help you measure and line everything up.
Set the EasyPress to 340 and place it on top of the vinyl, firmly hold it in place for 30 seconds. Then turn the canvas tote over and firmly press the EasyPress onto the back of the fabric for 15 seconds.
Peel away the protective adhesive sheet.
Fill your colorful new canvas tote with school supplies and snacks for your teacher. Target had some super cute stuff that matched perfectly, so I picked up lots of those school supplies.
This is what we will be taking to “Meet the Teacher” night before school starts. I think this cute tote is not only fun, but it’s practical too, which in my books makes it the ideal back to school teacher gift! I even made a custom made DIY Notebook Paper Pencil Pouch to coordinate with the tote bag, isn’t it cute!
My sister, who is a kindergarten teacher, approves. When I showed it to her she promptly told me to go back and get more totes so I could make some for her boys teachers. I just hope that my kids teachers appreciate these cute tote bag as much as I do!
Are you excited about heading back to school or are you still hanging on to summer for a little bit longer like me?!

Hi Shanita, I found the bags at my local target in Allen. However, they did not have anymore the other day when I went to look, but I did ask an employee and they said they would be getting more in. You may just need to check with your local store and ask an employee if they will be getting more or if they can order them for you. Good Luck finding them, it sounds like you will be using them for a great cause!
