You can never have enough cute shoes, right?! In the summer it’s especially fun to have colorful kicks that coordinate with cute summer outfits and just shout summertime! I can’t think of anything more summery than bright colored citrus fruit, so naturally a pair of DIY Citrus Painted Canvas Shoes became a must.
I recently decided to make a lemonade stand kit for my girls, and while I was making it I thought to myself “wouldn’t they look cute selling their lemonade in adorable outfits with custom lemon painted shoes!” Of course, I couldn’t help myself and headed out to the craft store to find supplies to make these cute DIY Citrus Painted Canvas Shoes.
I’ve partnered with DecoArt to show you how to create fun and stylish painted canvas shoes using the new Stylin™ fabric paint. With this flexible paint specially formulated to prevent cracking or peeling you can create custom looks or refresh worn leather or canvas surfaces with this multi-surface fashion acrylic. It bonds to the surface to create a seamless finish and with 14 fashion forward colors to choose from you’ll be stylin in no time!
To create your own custom DIY Citrus Painted Canvas Shoes you will need the following supplies:
- Round Foam Pouncers – these are essential for making those perfectly round fruit shapes.
- Quality Craft Detailing Paint Brushes
- DecoArt Stylin Paint
- Yellow
- Orange
- Green
- Fuschia
- Aqua
- Brown
- White
- White Canvas Shoes
Use the circle foam pouncer to create circle shapes on the canvas shoes. I started with the yellow for the lemon slices and lemons.
To make lemons, use the pouncer to place a yellow circle on the canvas. Then use a medium size flat brush to drag the paint out of the circle to crate rounded points on both ends.
Use the white paint to create the lemon slices. Start by finding the center of the yellow circle, place a small dab of paint and drag it to the top and bottom. Repeat until you’ve created equally wedges around the yellow circle.
Use the larger circle foam pouncer to create orange circle shapes on the canvas shoes.
Use the green and brown paint to add leaves to the lemons and the oranges.
Use the aqua and fuchsia paint to add little polka dots to the white space on the canvas shoes.
Repeat the same steps on the other shoe, try to keep the design as similar as possible so they are mirror images.
Lace up your colorful new citrus kicks for a fun summer look. You could really do this with almost any design – the DecoArt Stylin paint makes it so easy! What would you paint on your shoes??
Hi –
Did you seal the shoes with anything?
Hi Erica, I didn’t on these particular shoes. However, I have used this product https://amzn.to/2PswWoc to seal other shoes I’ve painted.
