The key to a great Valentine’s Day includes a cute treat box, candy, and a few cheesy love-themed puns. Well, I have the perfect craft that will check all those boxes. A DIY Key to My Heart Valentine Treat Box for your sweet little valentine.
A few years ago I made my kids these DIY Conversation Heart Treat Boxes and they were such a big hit. Not only did they love getting these little treats on Valentine’s Day, but I also noticed that they saved the boxes and kept them to store little treasures.
So, when I spotted these heart-shaped boxes at Michaels for $0.30 I knew they would be perfect for creating a fun new treat box for Valentine’s Day.
DIY Valentine Treat Box
I love this time of year because it gives me a little extra motivation to practice kindness and spread love to those around me. Even though my kids are older, they still love finding surprises and treat boxes filled with their favorite candy.
These DIY lock and key valentine treat boxes are easy to create. Fill them with candy, or drop special love notes inside.
Supplies:
- Cricut Maker
- Gold Vinyl
- Pink and Red Cardstock
- Cricut Standard Mat
- Gold Pipecleaner
- Heart-Shaped Box
- Candy
Start by opening up the lock and key SVG in Cricut Design Space. Resize the image if necessary to fit your heart-shaped box.
Place the gold lock in the center of the heart-shaped lid.
Use a sharp tool (I used one of my Cricut weeding tools) to poke a small hole on the top left and right side of the heart. Make sure you poke the holes in the bottom part of the box and not the lid.
Cut a gold pipe cleaner in half and then place one end in one of the holes. Knot the pipe cleaner on the inside to secure it in place.
Next, thread the key and the Key to My Heart Printable tag on the pipe cleaner and place the other end into the box.
Add candy to your heart-shaped lockbox and then place the lid on top.
