I am thrilled to share my most recent partnership with FloraCraft® Make It: Fun®. I am excited to join the FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® team as a brand ambassador and looking forward to sharing creative DIY projects with you each month. For our first challenge we were asked to create something with the round wreaths. This Citrus Wreath Centerpiece just screams summer with its fresh, vibrant colors.
I have to admit when we were first given the challenge to use the wreaths I panicked a little bit. You see several years ago I made a wreath and hung it on our front door, I was proud of my little craft and excited about hanging where everyone could see it. Well, it turns out I wasn’t the only one that was excited about my new wreath. A mama bird decided to use it as home for her tiny little bird eggs. At first we all thought it was pretty cool, but then the baby birds were born and the door and wreath were covered in bugs and icky stuff. Not to mention we couldn’t go out our front door for weeks because every time you opened it the mama bird would freak out and come flying towards you. It was just a little traumatizing, needless to say I haven’t had a wreath since then.
I love entertaining and have been looking for an excuse to host a summer dinner party with friends so I decided I would create a beautiful centerpiece for a themed citrus dinner party instead. Here is what you’ll need to make your own Citrus Wreath Centerpiece:
- 12” FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam
- Faux Lemons and Oranges
- Small White Flower Blossoms
- 3” Wide White Ribbon
- Floral Wire Cutters
- Floral Pins
- Glue Gun
- Candle and Vase
Start by wrapping the wreath with the white ribbon. Firmly secure it with one of the floral pins.
Before you get started you’ll want to arrange the faux oranges and lemons around the wreath to figure out spacing and placement.
Once you have a rough idea of where you want things to go use the wire cutters to trim the stems of the faux fruit. Secure the stems on the wreath using the floral pins. Continue moving around the wreath with the larger stems, until you have everything in place. Next, it’s time to fill in the gaps and holes. I used smaller faux oranges to fill in the blank spaces. In order to secure them I opened up one of the floral pins and cut off the bottom with the wire cutters. I stuck one end in the orange and secured the other end in the wreath.
Once I had all the gaps filled in with the citrus I added the white blossoms. I used a dab of hot glue to secure them in place.
Add the wreath to the center of your table and insert a large vase and candle.
I love how this Citrus Wreath Centerpiece turned out, it definitely brightens up our dinner table. It’s the perfect addition to our citrus themed dinner party and the best part is I don’t have to worry about a crazy mama bird trying to attack me while I sit back and enjoy the beauty of my new wreath.
What would you make with the foam wreath forms from Make It Fun?
