It’s no secret that Teacher Appreciation is on of our favorite things to celebrate around here. From my DIY Thanks for Helping Me Grow flower pots to homemade baked goods I love a good excuse to spoil our teachers. I come from a long line of school teachers and I have the utmost respect for the men and women who teach our children. Teachers are special people, and having a teacher that believes in you, encourages you and motivates you is truly a gift. So this year, we are celebrating our favorite teachers with a cute Bee Fingerprint Teacher Appreciation Gift.
Over the years I have created lots of teacher appreciation gifts, but when I go back to visit old teachers I am always surprised to see the handmade gifts my kids created for them still proudly displayed on the shelf or desk. I recently dropped my nephew off at the preschool my kids attended school almost 6 years ago, and their teacher still had the flower pot we made her sitting in her classroom! I decided this year we would go back to creating handmade gifts to shower our teachers with love and appreciation…of course, with a gift card attached to it too!
What You Will Need:
- Small clay pot
- White craft paint
- Yellow craft paint
- Paintbrush
- Fine tip Sharpie
- Flower or Plant
- Free Printable Teacher Appreciation Bee Tags
- Scissors
- Tape
- Bamboo skewer
This truly is a simple project that you can make after school with the kids. I’m a big fan of quick and easy projects, but it’s even better when they come from the heart. Start by painting your pot with the white craft paint. Let the paint dry and then paint a second coat.
Once the paint is completely dry have your child dip their thumb or finger in the yellow paint. Make their finger is well covered, use a small paintbrush to completely cover if necessary.
Gently press the finger onto the pot. Continue to add the yellow fingerprints around the pot until you have a colony of bees.
Once the yellow paint is dry use the Sharpie marker to draw the body on your bee.
Finally, add dotted lines for the buzzing bees. I also added little hearts to fill in some of the white space.
Download the free printable teacher appreciation bee tags and cut them out. Use tape to secure the tag to a bamboo skewer and tie ribbon around it.
Add your flower or plant to the pot and insert the cute tags. Now you have an adorable personalized gift for your teacher.
