Now playing on a lawn near you, a fun summer flick under the stars. This summer kick-off the season with an outdoor movie night. As the heat from the long summer days subsides and the evenings cool off it’s the perfect time to entertain guest. We’ve partnered with Enbrighten Cafe Lights by Jasco to show you how easy it is to plan an outdoor movie night.
Our family loves going to the movies, but it can get expensive when you have to buy high priced movie tickets and overpriced snacks for a family of five. For the same amount of money that it would cost for my family of five to go to the movies we can host our own outdoor movie night for lots of friends and family.
Planning an outdoor movie night is actually easier than it sounds. Take a look at our favorite party must-haves and start thinking about what movie you’ll be playing on a lawn near you!
1. Greet your guest with a welcoming entrance.
We used Engrighten Cafe Lights to create a movie star entrance for our outdoor movie. As guest arrive they walk through the lit up path to the outdoor seating area and concession stand. A chalkboard sign greets guest at the entrance with showtime details and blankets that each guest can grab to get cozy.
While I was planning this outdoor movie party I wanted to create a special entrance that would wow our guest and enhance the party space. I decided to use the Enbrighten Cafe Lights by Jasco to create a walk way that not only made entering the movie area fun, but it also provided the perfect amount of ambient light once it got dark and the movie started. With the lit up path, guest could easily find their way to the concession stand and bathrooms. These lights are new to the market and come in a variety of sizes, are LED and energy efficient. They are great for creating an intimate outdoor atmosphere or brightening up a party. I love that these heavy duty lights are designed to provide lighting for life with no bulbs to replace ever again.
2. Arrange comfortable seating.
You will want to make sure guest have cozy place to settle in for the movie. Throw lots of blankets and pillows on the lawn and make sure you have extra blankets they can use to cover up. You can also provide lawn chairs in the back for guest who don’t want to sit on the ground.
3. Serve movie themed snacks
One of the best parts of going to the movies is the concession stand. Create your own concession stand with lots of movie themed snacks. I like to use my DIY lemonade stand to display a variety of candy, popcorn and drinks for guest to choose from. Put out colorful paper bags for guest to scoop their popcorn into.
4. Set up a movie projector and screen
The key to a successful outdoor movie is having quality equipment to show your summer flick on. If you don’t have a projector and movie screen you can rent or buy one. Or you can even use a flat white sheet to project your movie onto. Either option works great, just make sure you have tested out the equipment and have it set-up and ready to go before guest arrive.
5. Pick the Flick
Pick out one of two movies that you know all of your guests will love. Since we usually have a wide variety of ages, we like to stick with classics that we know our friends already enjoy. Think big summer blockbusters, classic Disney movies, favorite comedies or old Westerns. Even if it’s a movie everyone has seen, watching it under the stars makes it a fun and new experience your guest will love.
There really is nothing better than hanging out with friends and enjoying a cool summer night. Enlighten your life and plan an outdoor movie night to celebrate summer! And to help get you started our friends at Jasco want to give you your very own set of Enbrighten Cafe Lights.
