Donuts are all the craze right now. Every where you turn there are donuts…donut crafts, donut parties and gourmet donuts. Speaking of gourmet donuts, maple bacon donuts are becoming a serious trend setters. Today I’m bringing you my version of this popular donut treat, Candied Maple Bacon Donut Kabobs. Plus, I’m sharing a free printable tag to help you create a tasty Father’s Day breakfast that dad will love!
My hubby isn’t a big donut fan, but he recently ordered a gourmet maple bacon donut from a new donut shop in town and loved it. I can see why it was a favorite, the combination of sweet maple syrup and crispy bacon is an undeniably mouthwatering pairing. Of course, I don’t think you can ever go wrong with bacon!
I thought it would be fun to recreate this breakfast power duo for him on Father’s Day, but I didn’t want the hassle of baking donuts from scratch. Instead I decided to create a simpler, but still extraordinary, version with these Candied Maple Bacon Donut Kabobs.
What You Will Need:
- Donut Holes
- 1 lb Bacon, thick cut
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- wooden skewers
- Pastry brush
- Free Father’s Day Donut Tags
Step 1:
Start by making the candied maple bacon. Line a baking sheet with foil and place the bacon on top of a wire baking rack.
Step 2:
Use a pastry brush to liberally brush the bacon with maple syrup.
Step 3:
Sprinkle the bacon with brown sugar and place in the preheated 400 degree oven. Bake for 15 minutes, flip the bacon and repeat steps 1 and 2, bake for another 10-15 minutes or until the bacon reaches the desired level of crispiness.
Step 4:
Use a wooden skewer to alternate the donut holes and pieces of crispy candied maple bacon.

The perfect recipe. My friends and I always celebrate our birthday with grilled bacon, donuts, and breakfast burritos from a nearby favorite restaurant. I think donut/bacon kabobs could definitely be making an appearance for the next birthday!
