Back to School Books Bookworm Kindergarten Party School

Calling all Bookworms for a Back to School Party

The carefree days of summer are coming to an end, but for school-aged kids a new adventure is just around the corner.  Back-to-school means new friends, new teachers and new memories!  Get your little ones excited about the new school year and celebrate with a Back to School Bash.

Back+to+School+Bash

My daughter is going to kindergarten this year and I wanted to start the school year off right and document this exciting milestone.  I decided to use my daughter’s love of books and reading as the focus of our party.  Dimpleprints created the perfect invitation calling all bookworms to join us for an afternoon of fun.

I set-up an old desk and bookshelf I borrowed from a friend to display the party treats and goodies.  I served a traditional “school lunch” with items that were easy to make and budget friendly.  We had PB&J sandwiches in decorated glassine bags, applesauce, fruit cups, milk, cookies, chocolate covered Oreos, and apple cake pops.

During “recess” the kids got to burn off some energy with old school themed activities like “Teacher Says” (Simon Says), Red Rover, Freeze Tag and Kickball.  I also created a little reading nook and filled it with books about starting kindergarten and going to school.

My friend and photographer Elayne Dunn Photography was on hand to capture a “class photo” and take individual photos of each child.   I used the First Day of Kindergarten sign from the party package and put it into a decorative frame for each kid to pose with and create a memorable keepsake for mom.  I also made oversized flashcards with the numbers that represent their first day of school.

Our guest went home with a brown paper sack full of goodies to start the school year off right.  The bags were filled with an apple shaped notepad, crayons, and a sweet treat.  They were also given a composition notebook and bookmark to use as a journal throughout the year.

Whether your child is starting kindergarten or they are a seasoned school pro throwing a Back to School party is an A+ idea!

How adorable! Would you mind sharing where you bought the apple shaped notepads? I would love to give those to my Kindergarten class as part of their first day gifts. Also love the way you packaged the crayons.

    Thanks so much,

I mean are you really even a super fan until you have a Christmas tree decked out in UT decor?!?

Let me tell you finding orange Christmas decor is a challenge, which I happily accepted. I made lots of the ornaments and got creative with the decor (like the plush longhorns and cowboy boots cups) and I love how this turned out.

Do you have a unique themed tree you put up every year?

Making homemade vanilla is easy, and it’s so much better than what you get at the store.

I love making this for neighbors, friends, teachers and friends. I pair it with homemade vanilla cinnamon pecans for the perfect gift.

I’m creating this year’s dream tree with the perfect flocked tree from @kingofchristmas, flocked ornaments, and luxury ribbon from @decoratorswarehouse

I’m obsessed with this elegant tree, featuring a neutral vibe with pops of champagne gold and brown. I love a flocked tree because it reminds me of a snowy Christmas, and this 8’ King Flock Slim Artificial Tree is the perfect tree, and I promise it won’t leave a giant mess!

Creepy arms, cascading vines, and moss give the impression of a once-vibrant garden overtaken by time and ghosts. A swarm of black butterflies flutter above moss and garden vines. Skulls lie covered in moss, and lanterns flicker, bringing this eerie Halloween display to life.

I’m obsessed with these creepy arms and love how they elevate my Halloween mantel decor. What do you think, is this a YAY or NAY?
