We love to celebrate around here and that includes everything from major holidays to simple silly ones, including April Fool’s Day. At our house we are all about fun and harmless pranks. If you are looking for an easy and silly prank to celebrate April 1st with give our April Fool’s Day Eggs and Toast Breakfast a try.
My kids aren’t big breakfast eaters and normally just have oatmeal or cereal in the morning. To be honest this is mostly likely attributed to the fact that none of us are morning people, and we would all rather sleep in a few extra minutes than get up and hassle with making a big breakfast. But, on occasions (usually when I feel guilty about them eating cereal every morning) I will get up and make them something more substantial like eggs or pancakes. Which is why this silly prank works great at our house, they will be excited to see that I got up and made them a special breakfast.
However, these sunny side up eggs will fool them, at least at first glance. To make the eggs spread vanilla yogurt on the plate and smooth it out until it resembles egg whites. To create the yolk for our April Fool’s Day Eggs I used apricot halves. You could also uses peaches, but I found that they were a little too big to really look like egg yolks.
Sunny side up eggs and toast are the perfect pair, especially when it’s as sweet as our April Fool’s Day version. I sliced pound cake and toasted it to make it look more like traditional toast.
The kids will need something to wash down their special breakfast. For my final prank I prepared them pipping hot “coffee”, which is actually just hot chocolate. But, for good measure I scattered a few coffee beans around the mug to give it that coffee aroma and trick them into thinking they are drinking fresh ground coffee.
This April Fool’s Day Eggs and Toast Breakfast will have you giggling all morning long. And the best part, this sweet breakfast will definitely feel like a celebration!
