February means sweet treats, hearts galore and lots and lots of pink and red. You wouldn’t think of gingerbread in February, would you? Well that’s exactly what I am doing today.
My mom gave me these beautiful gingerbread houses for our Gingerbread House Decorating Party, but amidst all the activity with the kids I didn’t have a chance to decorate them. I thought I would find the time, but Christmas came and went in the blink of an eye and there they sat. I hated to throw them away so I just put them on top of the fridge out of the way.
After Aubrey’s party (which I can’t wait to post pictures of) I had lots of pink, red & white candy left over and inspiration struck…why not use it to make a Valentine’s gingerbread house!
Just recently I saw gingerbread houses on major clearance at both Sam’s and Michael’s. This is a great way to get rid of all that candy that accumulates and a fun project for the kids. I am going to let my kids decorate the other house tomorrow and can’t wait to see what they create.
