In Texas, some might say football is everything. Small towns and big cities alike look forward to Friday nights and gathering together to cheer for their hometown team. When you love something as fervently as Texans love their football you celebrate with great food! Today we’re bringing the football frenzy to you with our Tailgate Chopped Tater Tots!
This season, OZARKA® is celebrating the many facets of Texas high school football including community pride, homecoming and tailgating. I’m thrilled to partner with OZARKA to bring tailgating to life and share one of my favorite tailgate recipes. Our Tailgate Chopped Tater Tots are insanely delicious and the perfect party food for your football gatherings. Whether you are cheering on your favorite team from the couch at home or you’re tailgating in the parking lot, don’t be surprised if these loaded tots become a part of your Friday night football traditions!
I love football season and I especially love combining it with one of my ultimate passions, entertaining. It gives me an excuse to celebrate and bring friends together to enjoy delicious food. I’m always looking for fun new ways to up our tailgate game. I knew I wanted something that was easy to eat and portable so our guest could enjoy the game from anywhere.
This recipe is super easy and features true Texas flavors, like chopped brisket. This recipe is a great way to use up leftover brisket.
Load your tater tots in individual party trays, not only does it make it easy for your guest to mingle we love them because they match our teams colors!
Next, smother the tater tats with spicy queso. Use your favorite homemade recipe, or in the interest of time you can use a store bought version. Now, load it up with the chopped brisket and add jalapenos for an extra spicy kick.
These Tailgate Tater Tots are so good. Trust me, this is a tradition you’re going to want to keep long after football season has come and gone!

This looks like an ideal tailgate recipe! My family would absolutely love this!!!
They are so good, my husband was begging me to make them every weekend when football comes one.
This looks amazing!! Like Nacho’s but better!! I haven’t tailgated in years…It is a fun tradition! Hope you find time to stop by My 2 Favorite Things on Thursday – Link Party!
Thanks Elaine! Tailgating is always a good time, we don’t do it very often anymore either but that doesn’t stop me from whipping these up for weekend football games. 🙂
Adding those jalapenos should make all the difference!
Oh yeah, you know it!
These look great! I might skip the spicy, but everything else would be perfect!
Thanks Erin! That’s the beauty of simple recipes like this, they are easy to alter to fit your taste. Enjoy!
Oh my goodness! These look delicious. We aren’t Friday night tailgaters, but we are Sunday couchgaters… these would be perfect for that too!
These look so perfect for a tailgate! Easy to put together, and you put on it what you want. I’ll be sharing this with my tailgating friends for sure. Thank you!
Exactly you can customize them with your favorite toppings and they are so easy to make. Enjoy!
What a fun recipe! Forget tailgating, I want that for dinner! I’d eat it tailgating too. Yum!
Thank you Michelle, we’ve made it for dinner a couple times too. My husband asks for this recipe frequently! 🙂
