Sweet…but make it spooky! Who’s ready to trick-or-treat at the sweetest spooky spot on the block? This Halloween, we’re serving up candy-colored chills & thrills with this Sweet and Spooky Halloween Front Porch Decor, complete with EYEscream, cotton candy cobwebs, and oversized spooky treats.
Sweet & Spooky Haunted House décor
Halloween is the perfect time to mix fright with delight, and this year we’re putting a colorful twist on traditional haunted house decorations. Say hello to Sweet & Spooky Haunted House —a fun, candy-inspired theme that’s just as festive as it is frightful.
Instead of relying only on dark and eerie tones, this year I decided to use bright candy colors as my inspiration and infuse it with the perfect amount of spooky elements to create a whimsical entrance that’s sure to delight trick-or-treaters. Think oversized lollipops, cotton candy cobwebs, candy corn, and swirls of DIY EYEscream, paired with classic Halloween staples like skeletons, skulls, ghosts, and spiders. The result? A playful front porch display that’s equal parts sweet, spooky, and Instagram-worthy.
DIY Oversized Halloween Sweets
To recreate this look, you’ll need to create some spooky, sweet, oversized Halloween treats. I started by shopping at my go-to Halloween headquarters, Oriental Trading. They have everything you need to make DIY cotton candy cobwebs, colorful EYEscream cones with eyeball toppings, and colorful candy tubes.
I turned wood popsicles into Halloween ghost, mummy, and pumpkin popsicles with a little bit of paint, fabric, and vinyl stickers. Mixed with honeycomb candy, giant candy corn, skulls, and googly eyes helped create the perfect balance of spooky and sweet.
I hung a black Halloween garland above the door and then added all of my DIY sweet treats. Layer in bold bows, the faux cotton candy, and candy corn cones for extra sweetness.
Next, I added a quirky wreath to the front door, decorated with candy-colored ornaments, spiders, and skeleton accents. Don’t be afraid to mix textures and colors for a truly eye-catching effect.
Oversized Trick-or-Treat Candy Box
One of the standout pieces in this décor is the oversized “Trick-or-Treat” candy box display. Packed with giant lollipops, pumpkins, and spooky creatures, it sets the tone for a fun and festive Halloween. Finish the look with a striped doormat in coordinating colors to tie everything together.
I created the oversized Trick-or-Treat candy bag using this tutorial, but instead of cutting out the heart window, I just left the box intact on all sides and cut a jagged edge at the top of the front of the bag. Then, I used my Cricut to create the Trick-or-Treat vinyl sticker and added it to the front of the box.
This Sweet & Spooky Haunted House theme is perfect for anyone who wants to embrace Halloween with a little extra sugar and sparkle. Whether you’re planning a Halloween party or just want the best house on the block, this décor will delight guests of all ages.
So this October, skip the scary and try a colorful, candy-coated haunted house—because spooky can be sweet too!
