Fresh summer corn, crawfish, shrimp, meaty potatoes, and spicy seasoning, it’s a party in a pot!
Here in the South, summer isn’t complete until we’ve hosted or attended a Summer Seafood Boil Party. This is one of my all-time favorite ways to entertain because it is simple and fun.
What is a Southern Seafood Boil?
If you aren’t familiar with a southern seafood boil party let me give you a quick rundown. It involves eating pounds and pounds of crawfish, shrimp, sausage, and vegetables on newspaper instead of plates.
You end up eating elbow-to-elbow with friends and family. It’s the ultimate outdoor bash with lots of lip-smackin’ and crawfish-crackin’.
Crawfish Boil Party Ideas
One of the things I love most about hosting a seafood boil is the simplicity of putting it together. As far as decorations, table settings, or food preparation go, you don’t need much. But, it’s always fun to add a few details to make it extraordinary!
I customized burlap banners, utensil holders, and mason jars to create a few fun and simple decorations for our party. You can find all of the tutorials for these projects over on the Oriental Trading blog.
Side Dishes for a Seafood Boil
I made a few new recipes this year for our party and you definitely want to check out my Iced Tea Punch, it’s perfect for a hot summer afternoon get-together with friends.
But, my favorite new recipe I created for this party was my spicy cajun crackers with crawfish dip. I do have to warn you though, that this recipe is addicting and you may find yourself making it over and over and over again!
Why You Should Host a Summer Seafood Boil Party
I hosted this party for our Supper Club group and it was so much fun. Typically each month we take turns with a group of friends hosting dinner. Each month the host chooses a theme and plans the main meal, everyone else brings a side dish or appetizer that will go with the dinner theme. This is a kid-free dinner that gives all of us a chance to sit and enjoy adult conversation, great food, and lots of laughs. We look forward to this all month long!
Because this party was hosted at the beginning of the summer we made it a family-friendly affair and let the kids come to Supper Club. They were all so excited to finally be included at supper club and it was even more fun to watch them try new things like crawfish. We made lots of memories with some of our favorite people at our lip smakin’ summer seafood boil.
I’ve been attending or hosting seafood boils for years and every time I am reminded why they are so much fun and this year was no exception. Are you ready to host your own extraordinary summer seafood boil?

How can I order the cutlery holders?

The burlap cutlery holders are from Oriental Trading, and then I used acrylic paint to paint on the design. Or you could also try these on Amazon, https://amzn.to/3tUIRdL
