Looking for the perfect teacher gift? Give the gift of rest and relaxation with this Dinner and Dishes Teacher Gift featuring disposable dishes and a restaurant gift card. Perfect for the First Day of School and busy educators!
Giving a thoughtful gift to a teacher can be challenging, but one idea that stands out is the “Dinner and Dishes” gift. Teachers work hard and often have little time to relax, so giving them a break from meal prep and cleanup can be incredibly appreciated.
My sister is an incredible Kindergarten teacher and back in 2014 when my twins were starting school I asked her to tell me what gifts teachers really wanted. She listed off a few things like school supplies, hand sanitizer, and favorite treats. But, then she paused and said “Honestly, Meet the Teacher night is such a long day for us and the first week of school is always tough. It would be nice not to have to go home to fix dinner every night after long days at school!”
That’s when I first created my Meet the Teacher Dinner is Our Treat blog post with a free “Dinner Is Our Treat” printable.
This year after spotting the cutest school-themed plates I decided to step things up and include Dinner & Dishes for an easy and thoughtful teacher gift.
Dinner and Dishes Gift Idea
Start with a fun set of disposable dishes, because who wants to do dishes after a long day at work? I layered notebook-themed dinner plates with pencil-shaped dessert plates. Then, I tied them together with colorful ribbons.
Next, I printed out the free Dinner & Dishes printable and cut them out. Have your kids sign the bottom of the card, and then attach a gift card to their favorite restaurant using a glue dot.
Slide the gift card between the plates and the ribbon and take your super easy, practical, and thoughtful gift to Meet the Teacher. Let your student introduce themselves to their new teacher and give them the gift of well-deserved rest and relaxation to start the year off right.
While I recognize that giving the teacher a gift isn’t necessary at Meet the Teacher, it feels good to give a little something back to the extraordinary people who help teach and educate our children!
