As a new year starts, we tend to make goals and focus on finding ways we can improve or learn something new. This year, I decided to focus on cultivating friendships. To kick things off, I decided to host a girls night in craft night to connect with old and new friends. Succulents, sugar scrubs, laughter, and good food are all you need for a successful and fun night with friends. And when it comes to good food, I have the perfect recipe for your craft night party. This Spicy Bacon and Caramelized Onion Flatbread is so good and perfect for a craft night party!
If you have been around for awhile, you know how much I love entertaining, but by now you have also figured out I love for things to be simple and easy. When it comes to entertaining, I want to be involved, mingling with guests, not stuck in the kitchen or cleaning up. For our party, I decided on a ‘Succulents and Sugar Scrub’ theme. I kept things simple and used the craft supplies to decorate the table. Guest could paint their own terracotta pots and take home the succulents. I also provided everything they would need to make their own homemade sugar scrub, including my favorite coconut lime sugar scrub.
All that crafting is going to make you hungry. This Spicy Bacon and Caramelized Onion Flatbread is the perfect party appetizer to share. I teamed up with Borden® Cheese to bring you a mouth-watering recipe that is great for entertaining or even a quiet night at home.
Since all of the guests’ hands were busy working on crafts, I decided we needed food that would be easy to pick up and munch on while painting or making their sweet smelling sugar scrub.
First, you have to start with amazing ingredients. You can transform any ordinary recipe into an extraordinary one with the right ingredients. Borden® Cheese Mozzarella Shreds, Borden® Cheese Pepper Jack Slices, arugula, bacon, and caramelized onions are what you will need to create this amazing dish.
Start by creating a creamy white sauce with the pepper jack cheese. I put a few slices of pepper jack cheese in a pan and added 3 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream and stirred until the cheese was melted. Spread the melty cheese goodness on the flatbread.
Next, I piled on the rest of the delicious ingredients and topped it with lots of the Borden® Cheese Mozzarella Shreds. The thick cut bacon combined with the caramelized onions add such a rich flavorful texture. The key to a great homemade pizza is using good quality ooey, gooey cheese, and lots of it! I found my Borden® Cheese at Fiesta Mart, but check out this store locator to find Borden® Cheese near you!
Pop it in the oven and bake it for 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Once the flatbread pizza is out of the oven, and while it is still hot, top it with a handful of arugula.
Cut into small bite sized pieces, and place it on the table so your guest can help themselves while they are crafting. I made several of these delicious pizzas to make sure we had plenty, and everyone loved them so much that they were all gone at the end of the night!
I think our girls night in craft night was such a success we are going to make it a regular thing, which makes me super happy. I’m off to a great start with that New Year’s resolution to cultivate friendships! What party would you serve this Spicy Bacon and Caramelized Onion Flatbread at?
