It never fails, at the last minute you remember you needed a gift for a friend, teacher or neighbor. We all have stressors during the holidays and this month the Michaels Makers were asked to come up with creative and fun holiday hacks and tips to help relieve some of that stress and make holiday entertaining and prepping fun! Today I’m sharing 3 easy DIY Christmas Gifts with printable tags that you can make in a hurry for almost everyone on your list.
Ever since I created my Oh Deer Coffee Mugs last year for Christmas I have been obsessed with incorporating my stag into everything from decor to gifts. Since deer still seem to be a hot trend this year I decided to use it as my inspiration for 3 different deer themed printable tags that could go with simple DIY gifts. Speaking of obsessed, I am OBSESSED with the color coordinated aisle of party goodness at my Michaels. It is row after row of glorious, color coordinated goodies perfect for gifts and entertaining. And it’s where I found everything for my easy DIY Christmas gifts. I am almost ashamed to admit just how much time I spend on a weekly basis visiting this section at Michaels. 😉
Our first gift idea is perfect for the friends and neighbors on your list. Who doesn’t love to curl up with a steaming cup of hot cocoa when the weather is cold outside? This gift is so easy to make, and something even your kids could help you with. I used the small wooden berry baskets and filled them with paper shred. Next, I added a couple packets of hot coco mix, a mini bag of marshmallows, chocolate covered spoons and a DIY glittery deer bag filled with Lindt Chocolate Truffles.
I used the Wilton Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa melting chocolates for my chocolate covered spoons and added marshmallows, peppermint and a dash of sea salt to some of the spoons.
Our next gift is ideal for just about anyone on your list and there are so many different variations of how you can use the “Cheers My Deer” printable gift tags. This past summer I painted one of the drink carriers from Michaels for a birthday gift and it was such a hit I decided to do it again for the holidays. I filled the white drink carrier with festive sodas and added some embellishments and the deer tags for a fun and bubbly gift anyone would love.
Our final gift is great for teachers, the mail man or your hair dressers. It’s a simple and inexpensive way to let them know just how much they are appreciated. I picked up some of these super fun mugs from Michaels, added the deer silhouette in gold vinyl and filled them with homemade sea salt and chocolate caramel popcorn and tied it with the “You’re Deer-ly Appreciated” printable tag. You could also add a gift card to your teachers favorite store to make it an extraordinary gift you know they will love!
See, I told you easey peasy! Three simple ideas that you can throw together for just about everyone on your list! Michaels also has tons of holiday project ideas and instructions on Michaels.com, including gift wrapping, home décor, last minute gift ideas, hostess gifts and more.
Make sure you also check out the other four holiday hack topics and the unique ideas from all of the Micharld Makers on Michaels’ blog, The Glue String.
