I can’t wait for the Big Game on Sunday. We are hosting our annual football watch party and while we are a little disappointed our beloved Cowboys team fell short and didn’t make it to the big game I’m excited about hanging out with friends and eating good food. I have a few new recipes I’m trying out this year, including this delicious Smokey BBQ Flatbread Pizza.
Here in Texas we are serious about our football! I’ve grown up watching football and love the game. Our family loves everything from High School Friday Night Lights games to tailgating at college and NFL games. It’s become a tradition to host a Super Bowl party and every year we look forward to gathering together with our friends to watch the game, laugh at the commercials and enjoy great food! And every year I try to mix things up and serve something other than the same old chips and dip. This year in honor of the big game being played in Houston I decided to honor our Texas roots with this Smokey BBQ Flatbread Pizza. This bite sized appetizer is packed full of flavor and is sure to be a touchdown with our guest!
These flatbread pizzas are great for grabbing a quick bite in between plays so you and your guest don’t miss any big moments or those hilarious commercials. We all know that there is nothing worse than being stuck in the kitchen while you are trying to hang out and entertain friends, and this easy recipe makes sure you can be right in the middle of all the action.
To make the Smokey BBQ Flatbread Pizza you’ll need Stonefire Original or Garlic Naan, you can find Stonefire Naan products at Publix, Ralphs, Ahold, and Giant. You will also need chopped brisket, grilled onions, bacon, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and your favorite BBQ sauce.
Start by brushing your BBQ sauce on the Naan. I used my homemade Spicy Chipotle BBQ Sauce for this recipe and it was the perfect sweet and spicy sauce for this pizza.
Next, sprinkle a nice layer of mozzarella cheese on top of the BBQ sauce.
Now, sprinkle the grilled onion and bacon on top of the cheese.
Here comes the best part, add the chopped brisket. Don’t be stingy, load that thing up with moist, delicious BBQ. You can purchase your brisket from your favorite BBQ joint, or you can smoke your own. My husband loves any opportunity where he can roll out the smoker and we has perfected smoked brisket so he is always eager to oblige when I tell him I need it for recipes, like my Brisket Sliders with Spicy Jalapeno Coleslaw.
Finally, sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.
Pop it in the oven and bake it for 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a moment before cutting it and digging in.
I put our yummy flatbread pizza on a cutting board and added it to our football themed snack station. I like to set up a fun football themed display for our football parties and either use my DIY football field table runner or black chalkboard bulletin board paper for the table cloth. I like to draw football plays or write the names of the dishes on the chalkboard paper. You don’t have to go over the top for your Big Game celebration, but having a few fun details like football field cups, mini foam football fingers, football whistles and penalty flag napkins help turn it into an extraordinary celebration.
I set up several food stations where guest can fill up on tasty snacks. There is usually one in the kitchen, one in the living room and one outside on the patio. Each station has a variety of different snacks and drinks. I like to use mini buckets or DIY football themed cups filled with our Buffalo Ranch Popcorn, for serving these football themed snacks. I also fill drink caddies and coolers with drinks so that guest can grab everything they need and get back to the game.

I have seen these flat bread products in the store and tempted to buy them, not having a clue what I would make with them. I’m not much of a cook, but these pizza ideas look amazing, and pretty simple. I bet I would be able to hand this. I bet my family would LOVE it too.

I live in Costa Rica so I probably won’t be watching the Big Game – especially since my Steelers didn’t make it 🙁 Before I lived in Pittsburgh I never paid much attention to football but I always loved the Super Bowl because of all of the food. I’m not a huge BBQ fan but all of the cheese and bacon make this look delicious!

The game always seems to sneak up on us. It’s been a rough week. I wanted to do something cool for my hubby but maybe next year. This would be easy to throw together. It looks very tasty.
