Halloween is just a few days away, but I’m still cranking out a few last minute Halloween craft projects. Add a touch of whimsy to your decor with these cute Silly Halloween Felt Monsters.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, it has been since I was a kid. My mom used to always go all out for Halloween and some of my fondest memories come from this time of year. There were elaborate costumes, fun parties, spooky treats and Halloween decor galore. I want to create the same kind of memories for my kids, so when my daughter spotted the Fa-BOO-lous felt friends in the Make It Fun Halloween E-book I knew we had to make our own version of these silly Halloween felt monsters.
This craft project will take less than 30 minutes, which means you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the holiday with your kids.
What You Will Need:
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Block: 12”x 5”
- Make It: Fun® Styrofoam Styro Cutter
- Felt: Black, White, Purple, Aqua, Orange, and Lime Green
- Low-Temp Glue Gun
- Scissors
- Straight Pins
Measure and cut the foam block into 3 pieces. I cut mine into various lengths, but they were all 4″ wide.
Cut the felt into 2 or 3″ pieces. Fold the strips in half and cut 1/4″ sections to create the fringe. Glue the felt fringe piece across the front of the 2” base and around to the back. Glue the remaining fringed felt layered up the front of the body evenly spaced. We wanted our monsters to be silly and fun so we layered the felt colors to create our colorful felt monster family.
Cut a 9”x 3” piece of felt and cut fringe the same way for the hair. Loosely roll the fringe from 3” edge to 3” edge. Glue the hair to the top of the head. I also used straight pins to help secure the hair in place.
Cut out the face parts from the black and white felt using the template from the Halloween E-book. Glue the parts in place.
This silly monster family is sure to bring monster sized fun to your Halloween decor!
