Today my kids and I are hitting the streets with our RAOK Lucky Lottery Tickets to spread a little St. Patrick’s Day cheer.
I’m always looking for ideas and ways to teach my kids about service and giving. Not only is it important to me that they learn to help others, it also really helps me keep life in perspective and let’s face it…it just feels good. And my kids love doing these RAOK, they are constantly giggling as we sneak around to leave little gifts for strangers. It warms my heart and I know that we are creating memories that will last a lifetime.
I originally saw these Feeling Lucky Lottery Tickets on Pinterest and I thought it would be a good idea for some simple St. Patrick’s Day teacher gifts. Then, in the middle of the night (when most of my ideas hit) I had the thought that this would be fun idea to do RAOK with the kids. Who doesn’t love the thrill of scratching off a lottery ticket to see if you are a winner?
I went out and bought a bunch of $1 lottery tickets. I made small vellum envelopes with my Cricut and placed a ticket inside each envelope. Then I used washi tape to attach the gold “scratch” coins the clerk at the convenience store gave me. I added a little hand-stamped “Feeling Lucky” tag. Aren’t they fun?!?
The kids and I are going to drive around town and leave these on windshields of unsuspecting “lucky” people.
I don’t know if any of these little tickets are big winners, but wouldn’t that be cool if someone got lucky with our RAOK Lucky Lottery Tickets?
This is such a simple idea that spreads a little cheer, teaches kids about giving and service and I guarantee you’ll create extraordinary memories with your kids!
