We are so ready for summer and can’t wait for days filled with trips to the pool, family vacations, movie nights and sleeping in. To celebrate we are Poppin’ Into Summer with a simple and vibrant themed party.I love any excuse to celebrate and it’s become a tradition for me to host a party on the last day of school. We’ve had a Surfin’ Into Summer pool party, a Poolside Popsicle Party and this year we had a poptastic Poppin’ Into Summer Party. I decided to keep things simple and stick with a theme that was easy, kid-friendly and fun. Even if your kids are already out of school you can still host a Poppin’ Into Summer themed party to celebrate the carefree, sunshine filled days that lie ahead.
I used my DIY lemonade stand to display all of the treats. In keeping with the theme I kept the food simple and went with treats that POP. We had popcorn, popsicles, pop rocks, and bubble gum.
I made a colorful backdrop to add a pop of color to the party decor. I covered a large piece of wood with a bright blue sheet and used a brightly colored tassel garland from Michaels for a simple backdrop. I cut out Poppin’ Into Summer in brightly colored vinyl on my Cricut to tie in our party theme.
I love that Michaels carries coordinating party goods to match almost any theme. I grabbed colorful popcorn boxes, treat bags, napkins and serving trays for guest to load up their treats.
Once the kids had loaded up on treats and were busy having fun I moved the backdrop so that we could use it as a photo booth. Who doesn’t love a photo booth?!? Everyone loved grabbing props and posing for pictures, there was lots of silly fun and laughter that ensued. I printed out all the pictures and gave them to the kids to take home as a memento, yet another simple detail that the kids loved.
Now, we are officially ready for summer and can’t wait to make lots of extraordinary memories!
Don’t forget that from paper crafts, party goods and baking supplies to new outdoor lighting, glass and floral, Michaels is your DIY destination for all of your summer celebrations.
