Today we took a trip out to Bailey’s Berry Patch to pick blueberries and blackberries. My Grandma B is in town this week and we thought it would be fun to take a family outing that everyone would enjoy. I have wanted to do this for a while now with the kids and it was a perfect day for berry picking! The kids get their own little buckets to fill with sweet, juicy berries…that is if they can stop eating them.Aubrey LOVES blueberries and would put one berry in her bucket and eat 10. She helped Grandma B pick a few blackberries, but kept wandering back off to pick the blueberries.Piper thought this berry picking was serious business. She filled up half of her bucket on her own (with a little help from Aunt B.) and was carefully looking for the perfect berries.Parker was interested for a few minutes and thought dropping berries in the bucket was fun…until he found a stick! The kids had lots of help from Aunt Bethany and Grandma. And it was nice to have Daddy along to help too.A few spilled berries got rescued, we couldn’t leave any behind. This was a great adventure and everyone had fun. We picked lots of sweet berries and can’t wait to make some yummy recipes like blueberry pancakes, blackberry cobbler and of course some jam. After we got home it started to rain as we were getting the kids out of the car. They wanted to play in the rain and since they were already dirty and needed to change clothes I indulged their request, oh the simple pleasures and joys when your a kid.
