My kids love anything that is personalized with their name or initials and this 5 Minute Personalized Chalkboard is not only fun, but practical too!
Being from the south I also love a good monogram project, which is exactly why I am head over heels in love with the new Make Market™ at Michaels. If you haven’t been there lately they have an entire section dedicated to personalization and customization with tons of letters, textures, and blank canvases to help you create the perfect project for your home.
Whether you are creating something for your home or looking for a unique gift Michaels has made it easy with their new Alphabet Soup by Make Market™ line of products to create one of a kind personalized projects. You’ll find everything from raw wooden letter, small colorful letter magnets, metal hanging tags to large rustic metal ones. I left the store with a ton of letters and a few blank canvases and can’t wait to create some special projects for my home. But, with a hectic schedule for the next few weeks I decided to tackle one of the simpler projects I had in mind. It took me less than 5 minutes to create this colorful and fun personalized chalkboard for my daughter so she can keep track of her tasks and responsibilities on her own.
Supplies:
- Colorful Hanging Chalkboard
- Small Letter
- Hot Glue Gun
- White Chalk Marker
- White Chalk
I used the white chalk marker to draw a simple border around the chalkboard to give it a little more personalization and detail. I have found that the chalk markers typically do not erase very well from these painted chalk surfaces so it worked great to create the border.
Next, I used the hot glue gun to glue the colorful small letter to the bottom corner of the chalkboard.
Easy, peasy right! Now all that was left was for my daughter to use the white chalk to jot down important reminders and tasks that she needs to remember.
I stumbled on these fun mason jar lids in the Make Market section and picked up a bunch of them…because you never know when you are going to need fancy mason jar lids, right!?!
They are perfect for storing craft supplies or special treats and I love how perfectly they coordinate with the new personalized chalkboard and my daughter’s room.
That’s it, in less than 5 minutes I made the chalkboard and filled the Mason jars with supplies so my daughter can have a pretty and personalized way to stay organized.
I can’t wait to tackle my next personalization project with all of my goodies I picked up at Michaels. Make sure you check out the fun projects on Michaels.com and don’t miss the other 49 Makers’ ideas on The Glue String to see how they personalized their crafts!
