Have you noticed the deer trend creeping up everywhere? I’m usually not big on trends, but for some reason this is one that got my attention while I was shopping for our “Cocoa for Charity” Hot Cocoa Stand. Which lead me to create these Oh Deer Coffee Mugs.
And this project is so easy to create and the great thing is that when the trend changes I’m not stuck with something that is no longer “cool!” I am so excited about not only including my cute little Oh Deer Coffee Mugs in my hot cocoa gift basket, but I even made a set for myself so I can sip hot cocoa all winter long.
I used my favorite craft tool, the Cricut Explore, to make these cute coffee mugs. And honestly it couldn’t be easier! I whipped these up in less than 10 minutes.
First, I picked up several plain white coffee mugs from World Market.
Next, I uploaded a deer silhouette image to the Cricut Design Space and re-sized it to fit my coffee mugs.
I cut the image on brown vinyl and applied it to each coffee mug.
That’s it, easy peasy. Fill it with hot cocoa for a delicious and festive way to stay warm this winter.
I am super excited about using my new Oh Deer Coffee Mugs and love that it’s just another easy project I can whip up with my Cricut Explore. It really is one of my absolute favorite craft tools and if you are thinking about putting this amazing machine on your Christmas wish list you will definitely want to make sure you check back next week for an incredible Black Friday deal exclusively for Giggles Galore readers.

These are unbelievably adorable! How cool! Thanks for sharing your tutorial! I discovered it via the Brag About It link party 🙂 So I have a question. I’m a novice crafter, so forgive me if this is stupid haha. How does vinyl hold up in the dishwasher or by hand washing? Thanks! 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by Allison! The vinyl will hold up if you wash the mugs by hand, I’ve had water bottles I put my kids names on that have held up for a year now without any issues or problems. (although I have thrown them in the dishwasher a time or two and it still stuck, I’m just not sure how well it would do if you put it in the dishwasher all the time.) 🙂
Oh boy those mugs are so super cute! I might be able to get crafty enough to give this a try! 🙂 Lord knows I’d put a mug so cute to good use with my excessive coffee habit hehe
Stopping by from the natashainoz link party & so glad I found your blog! I could learn a few creative things from you for sure!

These are so cute! Are they washable with the vinyl on them? Oops, just saw your answer above. Totally worth a try! So nice to meet you Say G’day Saturday, pinning and following!

What type vinyl do you use for coffee mugs?
Hi Dawn! I used the outdoor vinyl from Vinyl Expressions for these coffee mugs. I put them in the dishwasher all the time and they are still holding up.
Seems a lot easier than my past attempts at using a permanent marker 🙂 lol
Thanks!
LOL, so much easier!
Hi,
I am wondering if you had a copy of the file for this deer! I am having a really difficult time cleaning up the image in design studio!
Thanks so much! LOVE the design.
Hi Rachelle, sorry for not responding sooner. We took some time off for the holidays. If you still need the image you can email me at mariah(at)gigglesgalore(dot)net and I can help you out.
