The season is changing and soon sunshine will make way for cooler weather and changing leaves. Create a Natural BoHo Inspired Fall Mantel with earthy textures and toasty colors.
I recently teamed up with Oriental Trading to give my mantel a makeover inspired by nature. A DIY Feather and Wood Hanging Wreath, macrame, and grasses make this nature-inspired decor perfect for fall.
Last year I mixed things up and created a Colorful Fall Mantel. This year I wanted something simple and inspired by nature. I spotted this cute vase with macrame trim and was inspired to create my BoHo fall mantel.
My living room is one of my favorite spots, especially as the weather gets cooler. I can’t wait to cozy up with blankets and enjoy the warmth of the fire while surrounded by decorations inspired by nature.
How To Decorate Fall Mantel
When decorating my mantel I always like to start with a focal point. Typically I have a large window or sign on my mantel, but I wanted something lighter with natural elements. I created a DIY Feather and Wood Hanging Wreath and absolutely love how it centers everything and creates a simple but stunning focal point.
Layering is key when it comes to decorating your mantel. Different textures like the wood plaque layered with a canvas hanging banner add visual interest in a subtle way. Start with taller items at the back and use smaller items as you work your way forward.
Use items of different shapes and sizes. Group similar items together in odd numbers to create balance within a display. I used a variety of small bud vases with dried grasses and flowers and grouped them together to create a simple vignette.
Add a pop of color with shiny metallics and colorful candlesticks. A shiny DIY Grateful sign is a great way to add a touch of sparkle to all the earth tones.
The fireplace is an obvious focal point in any room, and by using simple design elements like layering, repetition, and balance you can turn yours into a beautiful showpiece.
Once your mantel is decorated, you may feel that the lower section of your fireplace is looking a little bare. The eye naturally travels around the entire area, so bring some decor down with a few well-chosen items. I used a large rustic tree stump, pumpkins, and a basket full of cozy blankets to provide a welcoming touch of nature to the setup.
Using just a few easy rules, you can turn your mantel from a jumble of items into an eye-catching collection of perfectly curated pieces. Let nature in and bring the cozy comfort of fall to your home with a Natural BoHo Inspired Fall Mantel.
