A well-designed table adds to the joy of your holiday celebrations. There’s no set rule that dictates what color to choose when setting a holiday table — so let’s mix it up and create a colorful Merry & Bright Holiday Table Setting.
How to Set a Merry and Bright Holiday Table
The holiday season is a time for joy, and your table setting can add to the festive atmosphere. Here’s how to create a holiday table that feels both merry and bright.
I’ve created several DIY projects that are big on impact and easy on execution to help you add a bright bold twist to your holiday decor. I’ve teamed up with Cricut and DecoArt to show you how you can dress up your holidays with a merry and bright table setting!
Choose a Vibrant Color Scheme
Start by selecting a color palette. Don’t be afraid to try something unique and bold like pink, aqua, and gold. Sticking to a color theme creates cohesion and elevates the overall look.
This colorful table setting is perfect for a girl’s night in or your annual Christmas Eve dinner. The holidays are such a cheerful time of year, that it only makes sense to have your party decorations be as cheerful and fun too.
Layer Your Table Linens
Opt for rich tablecloths, chargers, and plates that fit your color scheme. Layering different textures—such as felt with linen—adds depth and a touch of luxury to your setting.
I am in love with the DIY colorful chargers I made with DecoArt paint, and you won’t believe how easy they are to make. I just might start making custom chargers for all of our dinner parties.
Add Festive Centerpieces
A well-chosen centerpiece is the heart of your holiday table. Create colorful woodblock Christmas trees, paired with a DIY Felt Leaf Garland and colorful ornaments in varying heights.
Incorporate Personal Touches
Place personalized name cards, holiday-themed napkin rings, or mini gift boxes at each place setting. These small touches make your guests feel special.
I love sending my guests home with a little gift to remind them of all the fun memories we made. I created simple party favors, that also served as place cards for our guests. I used my Cricut Maker to cut out the names of each of our guests in gold glitter iron-on vinyl. I used my EasyPress to iron the names onto a felt leaf and then attached the leaves to the wrapped gifts.
I love filling my home with family and friends, especially this time of year, and creating beautiful memories. And, it’s even more fun when it’s colorful, merry, and bright!

Mariah, I love all your Merry & Bright projects this year. They are so fun.
Aww, thanks so much it’s been fun doing things with bright colors for the holidays.
I love these colors! Just last month I bought teal chargers for my holiday table and thought it might brighten the table. I am tired of red and green as terrible as that sounds.
Your table brightened my day!
Thanks Kari! I know exactly how you feel, sometimes you just need to break away from the traditional and try something new. 😉
