I’ve been spring cleaning and organizing all the things. One of the things I’ve realized is I have an abundance of baskets. Baskets are so versatile and are such a great storage essential. While I have tons of baskets, they are pretty boring. I decided to give some of my outdated baskets a pop of color with fun patterns and shapes and today I’m going to show you how to paint woven baskets with acrylic paint.
These fun colorful baskets can be used to store things or add a faux plant to freshen up your space.
You can give your outdated or thrift store baskets a quick and easy makeover with acrylic paint and less than 30 minutes. DecoArt just released their new acrylic paint colors and I couldn’t wait to try them out.
Supplies:
- baskets
- various colors of acrylic paint
- various sizes of paint brushes
- cup of water for washing brushed between colors
- plate for paints
Instructions:
Prep by taping off a design on the basket with painters tape or washi tape.
Use a paintbrush and carefully paint between the taped off design, giving it a few coats if necessary.
Remove the tape while the paint is still slightly wet and let the basket dry completely.
String coordinated painted beads and a DIY yarn tassel together, add to the side handle of the basket.
Add a plant or fill your basket with craft supplies, blankets or accessories.
