Carved Pumpkin Flower Vase

Fall is my favorite time of year, I love the colors, the smells, the cool air and the chance for change.  And who can resist the flavors of fall, it’s the perfect time for baked pies, warm soups and crusty homemade bread.  All of these are a great excuse for gathering together with friends to enjoy the changing season.  Which is why I chose to create a Fall Dinner table with a DIY Carved Pumpkin Flower Vase for this months Michaels Makers Challenge.

After wandering around the aisle at Michaels I found a few inspiration pieces to help me create my fall tablescape.  I always love having fresh flowers in my home, especially when we have company so I decided to transform a faux pumpkin into the perfect vessel for my flowers.

Draw a circle on your pumpkin larger enough for your glass container.

Using a serrated knife carve the top of the pumpkin off.

Place your glass container down inside the pumpkin and fill it with water.

Cut the flowers and arrange them in the glass container for a beautiful fall inspired centerpiece.

To complete the table decor I used the burlap ruffle table runner I found at Michaels, my bouquet of wheat, wooden tree stumps and mini faux pumpkins.

While it isn’t necessary when having dinner with good friends I love including cute little name cards.  I used small wooden frames with chalkboard paper to create the personalized name cards.

I found these little orange ramekins at Michaels, they are perfect for serving our favorite fall soup.

I used the Recollections chalkboard labels and put them on the ramekins for a fun custom menu.
