Hi Everyone. I am Jenny Raulli from Bloom Designs and I am so excited to be at Giggles Galore today! Mariah is one of my favorite party gals and it is truly an honor.
Last summer, I hosted a You Are My Sunshine Party for my daughter Hillary’s birthday. It is a great theme for summer. I choose my color scheme from a sunset- light pink, rose, yellow and orange and used it in all decorations and desserts. Desserts included cake balls, homemade marshmallow clouds, meringue parfaits and cake towers all in layers of yellow, orange and pink. The girls also had, sunsicles, sherbet ice cream, salt water taffy, rock candy stick and sugar cookies. The cake was decorated with Necco Wafers. I usually try to make all the desserts at my parties. It takes a bit of preplanning but it keeps the cost way down and my guests usually aren’t that picky.
Dinner was under a canopy made from sunset colored ribbons which I had stapled to an overhang off our garage. I bought huge rolls of ribbon at the L.A. fabric district to keep costs for this down. The girls ate our only sunshine’s favorite sandwich, sun dried tomato pasta, sun chips and sunset jell-o (layers of raspberry, orange and lemon) and drank sunshine soda all of which were packaged in gable boxes. I made placemats to match the invitations and name plaques for the chair backs.
At the party the girls painted sunscapes, made gum ball necklaces and sun shoes.
As the girls left they took a bucket of our sunshine’s favorite things which included when skies are grey colors, silly string and bubbles all wrapped in personalized labels. The printables are made with a polka dot and chevron pattern in sunset colors.
The entire You Are My Sunshine collection including invitation, water bottle labels, banners, food labels, juice box cover, crayon box wrappers, straw flags and more is available in my Etsy Store along with wooden utensils, straws and baking cups. You can also find me on Pinterest and Facebook
THANKS SO MUCH FOR HAVING ME MARIAH!
There are so many great details in this You Are My Sunshine party but I love all the bright decorations, especially the draped crepe paper canopy over the table! Thank you Jenny for sharing such a darling party with us!

What a pretty and well planned-out birthday party. I too am planning a Sunshine birthday party for my daughter. Can you tell me more about the structure on top of the table holding up the “H”? I’m having the party at a park, and obviously there aren’t any walls to hang things on, so I would like something like what you have on the picture for an added touch of color. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Florianna, that is a dry wall sheet from Home Depot. It is held up by a 2×4 frame that is braced and clamped to the back of the table.
