I may be a little late to the game, but I just finished my first project using chalk paint, and I’m in LOVE! I had this old chair that was sitting outside and taking a beating from the elements outside and wanted to give it new life.
I wanted something bright and cheerful and decided on this gorgeous color from Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint. It’s called treasure, doesn’t it remind you of the ocean?
This really was an easy painting project and totally satisfying to complete in just a few hours. I mean really, who has time to sit around and watch paint dry all day?
My chair was in rough shape so I gave it a quick sanding to remove the chipped and peeling paint.
I used a synthetic brush to paint the chalky finish paint on my old chair. It went on so smoothly, I really was surprised out how even it coated and covered everything. Bonus, it dries super fast too…perfect for impatient crafters like me. 🙂
After the paint was dry, I lightly sanded it to rough it up a bit and give it some character.
Finally, I used the cream wax to add a protective coat to my beautiful new old chair.
I couldn’t be happier with how this project turned out and I have no idea what took me so long to jump on the chalky finish paint bandwagon!
I haven’t quite decided on a home for my new chair, but for now I love having this bright pop of color infused with touches of fall on my porch to greet guest.

This turned out so gorgeous! Inspired!
Thank you Kristin!
I love this! I have a very old chair that my great-grandfather built by hand (complete with a cowhide seat) that really needs a facelift. I already have it sitting near my entry waiting for a transformation so it can hold a basket of fall mums. I couldn’t decide how I wanted to approach it, but I think this is exactly what I need to do! Your chair turned out beautifully, and your project is so inspiring!
