I wanted a little something special to get the kids excited about our trip to Sea World. I had quite a bit of leftover fabric so I decided to make each of them a stuffed whale to take with us on our adventure.
These were simple to make and didn’t take much time. Once again I used the same whale pattern that I used to make the whale outfits and whale coin purse.
The tail was very narrow and gave me such a headache when trying to turn them right side out. After I made 2 of them I revamped the pattern and made the tail a little wider and shorter, which helped a lot.
They got a cute smile and a button eye for a little added character.
I didn’t take any step-by-step photos, but I remember reading a blog a while back where she shared a tutorial on how to make a stuffed whale, you can find that here. I like the shape of my whale, but had I pulled up this tutorial first I probably would have adjusted the tail and saved myself some frustration.
I gave these little lovies to the kids when they woke up in the morning. They were so excited and knew exactly what it meant…we were going to Sea World!
I love watching them play with their cute whales, and I can’t help but laugh when Piper comes running to me wildly asking where her orange “dolphin” is!
