Our weekends are usually jam packed and busy with kids sports activities, errands and the occasional get together with friends. But on Sunday mornings we make it a priority to focus on spending quality time as a family. And nothing says lovin’ like warm fresh cinnamon rolls from the oven! We are making an ordinary Sunday morning breakfast EXTRAORDINARY with these easy Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls.
I hate to admit it but breakfast at my house usually consists of cereal, oatmeal or frozen waffles. We aren’t really morning people and sleeping for an extra 10-15 minutes usually trumps making a hot breakfast. But, on Sunday mornings I make it a priority and my kids have come to see it as a special treat. Surprising them with a fun holiday themed treat is just the icing on the cake…or in this case the cinnamon rolls! Our family loves Pillsbury™ Grands! Cinnamon Rolls and for our special breakfast this weekend I decided to celebrate the cooler temperatures and arrival of fall with easy pumpkin cinnamon rolls using our favorite store bought cinnamon rolls.
Making these yummy treats won’t take you any longer than usual, but your kids will love them. Place your cinnamon rolls on a baking sheet and cook according to the directions on the package.
While your cinnamon rolls are baking take the container of icing that comes in the package and add 1 drop of orange food coloring. Stir until the icing is well mixed and completely orange.
Once the cinnamon rolls come out of the oven immediately spread the icing on the warm cinnamon rolls.
Add a stem for your pumpkin and green leaves. I used a piece of caramel for the stem because it is what I had on hand, but you could also use a Tootsie Roll or pretzel rod. To make the leaves I used green melted chocolate, but you could also use mint to make your leaves.
Serve the warm cinnamon rolls to your family and enjoy the squeals of delight when they realize their cinnamon rolls are actually pumpkins. Our family loves to spend this time chatting about all the events from the weekend and making plans for the rest of the week. It’s a great way to start off our week and I love spending the time gathered around the table with my family, eating delicious food and making memories.
Do you have any weekend traditions or breakfast meals that are special to your family?
When I moved to Australia, I realized that there isn’t any canned pumpkin, so I had to make my own! When I had some leftover from pie, I added some to a cinnamon roll mix (again, we don’t have Pillsbury here, so I had to follow a recipe). I am happy to report that it’s a good combination. Happy Halloween!
This recipe looks so delicious! Hi, I’m Anita visiting from Showcase Your Talent Thursday.
Now if that isn’t the cutest thing! What a great idea!
Thanks Carlee, my kids really liked waking up to these instead of cold cereal!
Very cute! Pinning and visiting from The PIn Junkie!
