The start of a new year is always one of my favorite things. I love being able to purge, start fresh and get organized. I especially love creating fun and pretty new ways to help me stay organized, like this Painted Clipboard for my office.
The truth is I’m a pretty organized person. I really dislike clutter. My family always jokes that if they can’t find something it’s because I’ve thrown it away. I’m notorious for discarding things that aren’t in their place and don’t even get me started on all the “trinkets” my kids stash and collect! But, lately all of my to-do lists, inspiration ideas and photos in my office have been cluttering up my desk because I haven’t had anywhere to put them. I decided I need a solution stat, before things got to out of hand and I started throwing away those important lists. 🙂
I found these white clipboards in the dollar bin at Target and knew it would be perfect for helping me keep all those important odds and ends in one place. But, the problem is it was just way to plain and boring for my creative taste so I set out to fix it with a little help from my friends at DecoArt.
I picked out my favorite colorful Americana acrylic craft paint, Sea Aqua, Peacock Teal, Peony Pink, Shrimp and Gold (I didn’t have the acrylic version on hand in gold so I used the Patio Paint I had left over from this project.)
I used washi tape to tape off my design. I always have washi tape on hand and I love how easy it is to re-position and move until you get it just right.
I painted the bright colors in between the washi tape and let it dry. I went back and added an additional coat to make sure the lines where nice and bold.
Once the paint dried I carefully removed the washi tape to reveal my design.
I love how this simple, plain white clipboard turned into a fun and colorful painted clipboard for office organization. It’s a great place to keep all those little pieces of paper that I need for to-do lists, inspiration or projects.

So cute! I love the bright colors and the polka dots. It’s so much easier to stay organized when your tools are beautiful. 🙂 Thanks for linking up to Funtastic Friday.
My daughter would love this! She’s so creative and I’m so not. We already have the materials laying around the house; she is SO doing this!
Thanks Britt, I bet your daughter will have fun creating her very own clipboard. I’d love to see how it turns out!
