This Mother’s Day give mom a pretty bouquet of flowers and a practical gift she can enjoy long after the flowers are gone. Our Mother’s Day Garden Flowers are the perfect pair and make a great last minute gift idea for Mother’s Day.
I’m not a huge fan of flowers on special occasions. This can probably be attributed to the fact that shortly after we were married my husband sent me flowers to work for Valentine’s Day and because I manage the bank account I was shocked to find out how much those flowers that died 3 days later cost. I thought it was so ridiculous that I gave my husband a free pass to never buy and send flowers for any special occasion.
I love getting (and giving) flowers but I hate paying tons of money for them, especially around special occasion holidays. Which is why this year I decided to create a simple gift that would not only be pretty on Mother’s Day but will keep on giving long after the flowers are dead.
For this quick and easy gift I bought a polka dot metal pail and a pink garden tool from the Dollar Spot at Target. I picked up a pretty pair of garden gloves and a packet of flower seeds. I picked out a pretty flower bouquet for less than $10 and headed home to put it all together.
Trim the flower stems and place the fresh bouquet in the polka dot pail.
I used the flower seed packet to create a special gift tag for my mom. I put it on a bamboo skewer and stuck it in the flowers.
Now mom can enjoy a pretty bouquet and when those flowers are gone she can plant the flower seeds in the pail to enjoy for months to come.
